I would not

I wanted to clone my first dog. I was obsessed with him as a kid. Now that Im an adult I wouldnt actually do it even if I wanted to be with them again. I dont think it would result in an identical version of him in terms of personality. And it would make me feel guilty.
If not for the glaze
no, unless if it was from a rare breed and it was somehow cheaper to have it cloned rather than getting another pet from that breed (assuming I wanted one).
Isn't that right, Zach?

No. It wouldn't be the same, and i would know that. Its better to keep the memories and have a new pet
I thought that didn't work on nonhumans.

It's not the wings at all. Namor has so much contempt for the surface world that he literally repels himself from it. - HouseT
I just watched an Arnold movie where that was a thing! It was the 6th day, and the thing was called Repet.

But no, death is part of life, I don't wanna mess with that

no. i loved my first dog, but it was his personality that i loved, and i cant see that magically carrying over with a clone. i'd rather go find a needy dog at the spca.

I was devastated when I had to have my first cats euthanized, but clones wouldn't be my cats. They would be other cats, with different personalities, that looked like my cats.
Without truth, there is nothing.
I saw a story of a lady who had her dog cloned 4 times. All puppies were different and while having some traits, none were the exactly replica she wanted.

For me, no I would not. I wouldn't want to taint any memories of my special little guy.

There's really no point. Maybe I'd take the clone, but the cloned animal that you raise is going to be different from the pet you lost.

No. He went insane towards the end (the vet never figured out what it was, maybe brain tumor) and I wouldn't want either of us going through that again.

Plus it would feel creepy. I hear people in China are doing it and they're weird as fuck with pets anyway.
No, buy the time I would get around to actually doing it, the dog would be too old.

Getting DNA samples from older animals does make them age faster.

The experiences they have, both positive and negative, shape who they become.

I couldnt imagine having my beloved pets memory sullied by some asshole facsimile that had her angel face but not her loving charm.
Let's get down to brass tacks. How much for the ape?
The Rehearsal had an episode with cloned dogs.

You know, maybe my answer would be different if you could guarantee continuity of memory and consciousness.

No, that's just creepy, and just because they share the genes of your last pet doesn't mean they will be the same.

Science fiction type cloning? Absolutely. The extent we are probably limited to in reality? Meh.

I've thought about it. The issue is you can't clone the personality of the animal. My boy littles has the best personality I could ask for and there is a 0% chance the clone would be as awesome as he is, and i'd end up holding that against him.

I don't get the difference. The cloning that is done in reality is an exact genetic clone. Do you mean it gives them all the memories and experiences of the previous animal?

I originally wanted my childhood dog Tanner cloned, but apparently the personality wouldn't have been the same. I've had him most of my life and I'd give anything to see him again, but if cloning changes the personality, then what's the point?
