It's probably just because I don't have a childhood attachment to the game, but I've never really understood the complaint. Remake and Rebirth are both excellent. There are some spots where there's obvious padding, but there are far more that flesh out the world and the characters.Im much the same. I didnt play the og until January 2015 (got sick because i didnt close my garden door properly, and i have a vita).
It's not so much the amount of games it's going to span, it's the amount of console gens it's going to get released across.Remake came out the same year the PS5 dropped and part three will likely release in 2027 on the 30th anniversary of FF7. Hamaguchi recently been talking a lot about part three so I wouldnt be surprised if we get a trailer at the game awards.
Started in the PS4 gen, will probably wrap up in the PS6 gen.
Yes, they did. The first 2 are great games and I'm looking forward to the 3rd.
I havent played them yet, but isnt Intergrade a game as well, bringing the total to four? Or is that DLC?It's "Kingdom Hearts 1.5".

Yeah. It's got good parts, but most of the added shit is such a slog.
I quite enjoyed the extended look at the Midgar section of the story, which is maybe two hours, tops, in the original game. The more time that I get to spend with these characters, the better.
Im the same person who would say that I would rather play FF8 over any incarnation of FF7
And as you can see from some of the replies so far, people will defend that shit. the was
but the story is not really expanded much its mostly just bloatI admit that the pacing for these games has beenoff and that the remakes lack a sense of urgency. However, my point still stands. These characters have never been as fully realized or presented as well as they have been in this trilogy, and they probably never will again. I will happily take as much of them as Square is willing to give me, warts and "We've been so sidetracked by picking mushrooms and herding chickens that I've forgotten what our objective even is at this point" and all.

Could be 4 stillMaybe if you could crisis core.
Square Enix can't meet a real deadline to save their lives, I really hope the company goes bankrupt soon.I actually agree with you. Theyre a shitstain of a company and as long as Kitase and Nojima are around theyre gonna continue being trash.

but the story is not really expanded much its mostly just bloatThis isn't entirely true, the segment of climbing up the plate in part 1 is so much better than the original.

I stopped doing the mini games and side quests in Rebirth though and it's still a solid 50 hour experience if you decide to focus on the main story
and how much is actually added to the ma in story compared to the original 7 for that portionHave you played either of the remakes?
and i mean actual story expansion not a few conversations between the cast (which is a good thing dont get me wrong)
and how much of it is just making dungeons longer
It all comes down to assets production in this day and age. Ps1 jrpgs could be huge cause areas were just a few screen of pre rendered backgrounds that took days or weeks to complete with a handful of people working on them. There were no other pre rendered cutscenes besides the CGI ones. There was no mocap, no voice acting, barely any animations outside battlesI never understood this as a defense. "It would have taken too long and cost too much money if they didn't split it." That's only because SE has a development cycle like a runaway train. Plenty of full length JRPGs have been created in the modern era without those issues. SE just has a problem with scaling FF back.
It takes a looot of money and time to do that and it wouldve taken them 10+ years with no source of revenue in the meantime.
Its simply not financially viable unless they wouldve done a AA game. The games have been great, though the story beats and pacing have suffered bc of this

Have you played either of the remakes?
I enjoyed the new storyline of the Gi tribe and what that ann entailed
This isn't entirely true, the segment of climbing up the plate in part 1 is so much better than the original. If it is one thing i learned about gamers attached to their childhood/teenhood nostalgia about certain things is that their minds is 100 percent already made up and that you are just wasting your time.

NOPE
i played the game and i am the last person to want anything to be based on my nostalgia as i fucking hate nostalgia
one of my biggest complains about 7 remake is its not different enough in its plot
You just admit you played like half of the first game. How do you know whether the plot is different enough or not?

"you only played half of a game that was boring you your not allowed to critique it"
played the first one and got board after the sewers
You literally just said that you stopped playing the first game at the sewers (I'm assuming the first time around at chapter 10. Even the re-run at 14 is still before said climb at 15 though).
You barely played anything.
*Now if someone did actually run through both games and decided its not for them, that is fair. Don't claim to know all square-enix did with the new characterization expansion they gave everyone and the new story beats after the part you stopped at if you didn't even experience all of that first-hand*
yeah its clear i cant have looked up the cutscenes read the story synopsis or anything
dont critique media just consume
a game with combat that sucks and a story that is just bloated and padded out
