mcdonalds fried apple pies

I haven't been to McDonalds in a very long time. Is it true their pies are mostly filled with gel while only having a couple scraps of fruit?

I tried to buy one at Wendy's and they were like "no sir they fry those and sell them at McDonald's"

You know, other places have this same concept but with other fillings.

There's a tiny regional chain I like where I've gotten:

Lemon
Peach
Blueberry
Strawberry/cream cheese

They don't fry them.

They're pre-cooked, but they do bake them in an oven. The only things they actually microwave are breakfast burritos, hotcakes, and sausage gravy.

They used to fry them everywhere in the U.S. until the early 90s. They stopped when I was in high school. This was roughly within the same era when they stopped using beef tallow/oil mixture for their fries too. Same time Kentucky Fried Chicken changed to just using KFC because of the health trend pushback on frying stuff in that era.

With that said Hawaii still uses the fry method for the pies. The land that loves spam doesnt give a shit about health concerns haha. I also read some locations in California still fry as well. As far as Im aware those are the only two states to still fry pies.

Japan still fries their apple pies. I imagine there are other countries that do the same too.
