Just played the first chapter and... it feels like a B Movie.
The name is wackyteen for a reason. Never doubt.
I still have to finish the second one before I think about getting to this one.
Trying is the first step towards failure, so just dont give it a shot and you cant dissapoint.

As a huge Doom fan who actually enjoys all the convoluted new lore, it was pretty mid. On a technical level it's amazing but most of it felt so detached from 2016 and Eternal.
It is what it is, man.

You're missing out. Eternal's one of the best FPS games ever.

Didn't the devs say they intended for all 3 entries to play differently?
"Average Joe" is a trolling term since it's completely an opinion. "Overachieving" is also an opinion. - SBAllen (Hellhole: 52458377)
Hell yea. I loved it. It's one of my favorite modern trilogies.

I really loved how different each game was.
Great game. Not as good as Eternal but still up there.

They all have their own identity and succeed at what they try to do. Thematically almost everything about TDA feels like it was originally intended to be a Quake reboot. Also Hugo Martin did an Eternal livestream years ago and gave a few hints about plans for their next game and kept mentioning a lot of Quake tropes.

The pandemic royally fucked up all of Eternal's DLC plans and parts of the base game. A more fleshed-out Ancient Gods was supposed to be a full sequel with the original plans being a prequel where Earth deals with the initial Hell invasion.

I need to play Eternal again, that game's fun.
Time is a funny thing, you know? I guess in the big picture of my life, you were only a blip. But oftentimes, those "blips" make the biggest impacts.
I enjoyed it quite a bit... Probably rank it under 2016 and Eternal though... Still, having three great games in a trilogy is awesome...

I'd like to know what is so important that the PC version requires Denuvo for

I thought it was a lot of fun, although I really disliked how heavily it leaned into secrets and collectibles. Weapon upgrades should have been tied to usage, not currency that you have to go find.

And the story would have worked better if it was a Quake game
Sack to crack, going to town
It's...okay? Weirdly weightless for how much it's trying to portray you as the Big Stompy Lad, though. And people went into it expecting Eternal 2 where you are a fast zippy shooter (which Dark Ages Doomguy Is *Very Much Not*)

also straight up the worst mech sequences I've ever played but at least the mech sequences are short
Why not go all in?
More eye candy than decent game, honestly.
i think it's rad af but i'm a bit of a doom fanboy

just replayed for the first time since all the updates to beef things up a few months back (3rd time overall). i think they've improved the game but also it helped a lot i finally got to play with kb+m so it was like for realsies this time. somehow i beat it on nightmare w/ controller and after seeing some of the changes there's no way i could have done that now lol

i'm looking forward to seeing what they do with the dlc. i could definitely see them wanting to do a section with playable thira ( seeing her powered up later in the game reminded me of hugo martin entertaining the idea of a female slayer a few years ago), if not in the dlc then a spinoff of some kind, hopefully by another studio. my little dream here is that raven software is saved from the CoD mines and chosen for this, then they have a full comeback doing their own thing and id-adjacent titles every once in a while like the glory days

i didn't know where to put this but the load times are bonkers
