I'm skeptical of the true nature of these protests, seems like a convenient way for the government to track and monitor opposition. This is nothing but an unhinged conspiracy theory. There is no deeper nature to these protests beyond people coming together to voice their opposition against the Trump regime and fascism in the US government. It's not some kind of secret government tracking op. That is truly deranged.
You dont have to register to show up at a No Kings event. Its not like theres somebody checking everyones phones to make sure they signed up, you just go downtown and join the crowd.
I think this fear is a bit overstated.I don't know how someone could be paying attention and feel that way.
I'm not from the US

Because I'm in Canada.
Crippling social anxiety
I don't live in Murrica. I do live in a constitutional monarchy, but honestly I don't have anything against the (actual) king.
There's a very corporate, heavily marketed vibe to everything.Lmfao
Because, as someone said, protests don't matter unless there's consequences. There has to be an aftermath of these No Kings protest aside from just peacefully protesting again at a later date. Financial consequences targetting the Republikkan supporters would be the easiest way to send a message.Protests are not the only thing that we need to topple this regime, yes, other measures have to be taken as well, including boycotts. But protests are still a vital part of things.
Republikkkans don't care or have empathy so protests won't have any affect on them. The only thing that will make them bend at this point is personal violence or Dems getting control again and massively reigning them in.
Lmfao
If you think orgs like Indivisible and 50501 put off a "corporate" vibe then I don't know what to tell you. You obviously already have your mind made up, but you really have no clue what you are talking about.
Go on, why are you harvesting this data and what is it used for?"Harvesting data" lmfao. Mobilize is used to track RVSPs for an event so that the organizers can get a good estimate of the amount of people to expect. And yes, as emblem-man said, most groups have mailing lists that they want people to sign up to so they can send out info about upcoming protests and other events.
I've explained my position, and all you've really done was try to paint me as unhinged.yes, because the conspiracy theories you are spouting about organizations like Indivisible and 50501 are unhinged
And it seems like you're picking on me specificallyi'm sorry you feel that that is what i'm doing, but it's not
I know how propaganda works.lmao, what propaganda?
Isn't the obvious answer just that they want to grow a mailing list for future eventsI'd imagine it's this, plus just the basic social psychology of finding confidence in numbers. Knowing that a bunch of people are committed makes it easier for otherwise uncertain/nervous people to feel comfortable joining. Prior to my first 50501 event, I was hesitant due to fear of repercussions, but it was seeing the number of people RSVP'ing that eventually gave me the push I needed to join.
A few thousand miles of ocean that I feel no need to traverse.
As I said in the other topic, I'm on the central planning committee for the No Kings event in my county.Serious question: none of you are afraid of being arrested, or harassed, or put on watch lists or anything like that?
Serious question: none of you are afraid of being arrested, or harassed, or put on watch lists or anything like that? There haven't been any arrests of protesters in our area, and we have no reason to believe there will be at this one. The PD loves us. They say our protests are some of the most well organized and planned out protests they've ever seen, and they've told us that our traffic and safety plans are so thorough and comprehensive, the city permitting office actually asked us for a write-up about our guidelines so that they can include it in permitting requirements in general for events of the type we put on. We set the standard.

yes, because the conspiracy theories you are spouting about organizations like Indivisible and 50501 are unhingedI don't know what those are! I'm a computer "scientist" and glorified toy maker. I mostly lurk places like 261 and CE to keep up with the news.
i'm sorry you feel that that is what i'm doing, but it's not
lmao, what propaganda? You're part of the team I was criticizing, are you not?
I don't know what those are!you don't know what 50501 and Indivisible are?? then whose website are you complaining about looking too "corporate"?
All I can say is what I witnessed during the 2020 protests was unsettling. Violence perpetrated by the far right to instigate more violence ... random ass cops showing up to start shit and make everyone look bad.what the fuck are you talking about? What does any of that have to do with the protests against Trump that organizations like Indivisible and 50501 have been putting on this year?
There was one specific instance where it was more or less confirmed that one of thes protests was confirmed to be organized ... or at the very least the domain names were owned by God damned MTG.
So from my perspective, it's less conspiracy and more obfuscated fact.
