The shortening of the days go so damn fast up here this time of year. Its already night for 14 hours a day and soon it will be like 19 hours a day with the sun rising around 09 and setting around 14. Of course, its better than where I grew up cuz my hometown pretty much got polar nights in December.

Lack of sunlight is literally unhealthy.

Nah. The snow and ice is what gets me. It's hard to get anywhere when there are blizzards.

So is too much sun.

I would if I was in the dark
I live in Alaska and a lot of people get depressed in the winter I think. Its tough. Summer is the only pleasant time of year

I only go outside a few times a year (for the last 25 years) and I feel pretty healthy at age 44. I do exercise daily though.
Like it or leave it. Hey, where are you going?
Fall and winter suck due to the dark as well as the cold and unworkable weather.

Summer for life. I will die on this hill.

This comes down to infrastructure, but it makes sense that places down South dont build for that.

So it is, but many of us can choose to limit the time outdoors when the UV index is high. More difficult to create a fake sun when its very dark for multiple months on end. People here in Sweden are strongly advised to take vitamin D supplements in Autumn and Winter to try to combat the negative effects of the lack of sunlight. You run the risk of both depression and physical illness when there isnt sun.

As a Chicagoian, snow is the most annoying of winter.

I enjoy snow. But maybe its a learned trauma response lmao. As a kid there was snow on the ground from early October until the last melted in early June.

Edit: this is my hometown

I somewhat agree, it is so hard getting up early when its so dark and gloomy outside

And then it sucks when I have a long day at work and I get out and its dark already

I imagine shoveling snow sucks more, I live in California though
Snow brings light to the darkness though so that is a plus. And it is good exercise!

To be fair, the days start feeling longer rather quickly by January 10 or so.
It should be more of a "goth" season than Fall is.
...I think I'm done here...
The cold used to be the worst part until I moved to a different city. It gets colder here, but the humidity is lower so it's barely noticeable. I used to literally sob in the car waiting for it to heat up. Now I don't mind it at all.

Crazy how much the humidity matters.

I live in southern America so we don't get insane snow storms much. I love winter. I love the dark and dreary look of everything and it not being so godawful hot and humid. The lack of bugs is another plus. Maybe being born in winter makes me that way.

There is literally nothing else like going for a walk during a light snow. It's a unique quiet that isn't possible the rest of the year.

I never realized winter could be so depressing. I've lived in a tropical climate for a good chunk of my life and thought "hey can't be too bad". nope, several days of very little sun actually destroys my mood.
Allmind exists for all mercenaries.
Live in Florida so our winter last Christmas to 2nd week of Feb.

What I did hate was the short days. I use to keep my gate open till it got dark. As the days went by Id have to add 5 mins every day

I hate waking up at 5am in the dark, working 10hrs to get home 30min before sunset. Worst part about this time of year for me.

Agreed. It's still in the 80s where I live & that's way too hot for October.
