Jusis and Gaius from the Trails of Cold Steel series. Jusis was a stock haughty noble and Gaius was a stock foreign exchange student when they first introduced but four games of character development transformed them both into "movers" whose ascents could never have been anticipated, particularly Gaius. They both went from fairly flat characters to very interesting ones.
