Replayed DOOM 2016 and the game is still peak

So good. I may be turning into a boomer gamer, but this and Wolfenstein TNO are still some of the best single player fps games there are imo.

Playing Doom Eternal now. Having a good time, but all the extra lore feels a little heavy handed. 2016 struck a perfect balance for the story imo.

yea 2016 was a mastercraft at doomguy. i like eternal more from a technical aspect but the "lore" got lost in the sauce imo

I replayed it earlier this year right before The Dark Ages came out and it's definitely the best of the modern trilogy.

I enjoyed both Eternal and The Dark Ages, but it's 2016>Eternal>The Dark Ages

The level design... so good. A great balance is linear with room to explore. The secrets are fun to find, but generally not ridiculously cryptic. Great set pieces and large gauntlets.

Shadow Warrior 2 is imo still the best fps of all time.

Yeah; really loved Shadow Warrior 2. With all the mindless, blood-soaked mayhem it offers, it actually gave me a lot of DOOM 2016 vibes.

I think I played the first Shadow Warrior on PC and had a good time back in the day. Maybe I should pick up 2.

Shadow Warrior 2 is just amazing. I've never played the original or the remake of the original, or 3.

2 just keeps going. The levels are slightly randomized so each time you play it it feels a bit fresh. The combat is intense and just moving around feels great because of all the options you have. The loot pickups take a bit of getting used to but you can learn pretty easily how to quickly choose the best upgrades for your weapons.

Only complaint I have is that the pistols and some of the smg type guns feel pretty plinky and overly sensitive to aim, but the HMG and shotgun weapons are a lot of fun, as are the chainsaw weapons.
