I could see you, but I couldn't hear you You were holding your hat in the breeze Turning away from me In this moment you were stolen...
Why don't we just shoot the tumors with an AR?

How about we just let every person navigating cancer do so in the way they need to?
An opinion does not turn into a fact simply because the person holding it feels strongly about it.
So basically this Norm skit?

This so much. Take it from a two-time cancer survivor, no matter how many people you have on your side, in the darkest moments of treatment...it is a solitary battle against yourself. Let people handle it as they see fit.

That seems like a stupid as fuck article, I'm not clicking that

That.

Though I did get frustrated when I had cancer and people would say things like keep fighting. Im having the treatment. Thats all. Its a shit hand to be dealt but all you can do is try to get on with it.

I remember one of the last things Norm got headlines for was criticizing Tig Notaro for doing a stand-up special based on her cancer battle. A lot of people thought it was unique and brave, whereas he thought it was in poor taste, which was incredibly rare from him.

Turns out he was suffering through the same thing. Between Tig and Norm, there's no right or wrong way to view how to handle it.

Well said, and all the best to you.

Vetinari 2028. Make Ankh-Morpork Great Again!
Im sure the point the article is trying to make is perfectly valid (I recall a similar vein of thought being talked about in a recent Philosophy Tube video) but my god, that webpage is completely unnavigable. It keeps refreshing and taking me back to the top of the article randomly, I cant seem to read past the first couple of paragraphs. A shame, as I remember Refinery29 used to be a valid site with occasionally interesting pieces.
Show me your might! Give me your best shot!
You call this a fight? I said your best shot!
I agree with the central point of the article. This framing does more harm than good and is a barrier that prevents people from dying on their own terms. The US is one of the worst countries in the world for this - people will press on with expensive, harmful and barely-useful treatments well into the final months of their lives because they feel like that's what is expected of them. Often from their family. And then the family does stupid shit like demand ICU/ventilation and CPR when their 85 year old grandma with stage 4 lung cancer has a severe pneumonia.
Keep it green.
