Was working for my employer for a little over 3 and a half years and just found out today that today is basically my last day

Job security in Corporate America is an absolute joke

Sorry to hear that. I work at a very large company and I'm pretty sure they have been laying people off over the past year or longer. Things aren't great out there

Honestly, I have no clue. They went through a round of layoffs last month in a tech department so I think they're really trying to trim that department down.

I would still do it , it took nearly 3 months for me but they do back pay you from when you applied, hopefully you have something to survive on until unemployment kicks in

Fortunately, I have a good amount of savings from my dad's inheritance so I should still be able to stay afloat.

With $5000 and at least 6 months of unemployment you should be ok while looking.

I gave up being a corporate slave 2 years ago and make money from home. Not a lot by any means but I'd rather have less money than deal with that bs for another 15-20 years.

Its spreading like wildfire where I live too with layoffs. Im working with a skeleton crew atm. Last month they laid off like 70%, and I haven't heard anyone being able to find another job.

Best of luck out there though.

That's awful. The place I work at laid off like 300 people three months ago.

That really blows Im sorry TC. The job market is crazy bad. I feel like if I get laid off I need to rethink everything here. They told us we need to find 15.5 million is AI savings in the next year. Thats roughly our departments payroll budget. The message being we save ourselves with AI or.else? I dont know.

Yeah my job laid a buttload of people off a few months ago too after outsourcing to some Indian company a year ago. Such a cliche.

Blamed tariffs and the economy as well, then later said that it was the plan all along for over a year lol

Its why I worked for my self. I also hate conflict and there was always people stabbing each other in the back to get ahead. I still encountered it with competiors but that was a usless excercise on their part.
