I probably qualify as a "genwunner" in a loose sense.
I love gens 1 and 2, enjoyed 3 and 4, and basically fell off from there.
I thought the 2 hours of Pokemon Sun that I forced myself to play were some of the most unenjoyable gaming I've ever experienced.
I find the culture around Pokemon GO and the TCG to be weird and annoying and uninteresting.
I vastly preferred the old Sugimori watercolor art style and whine about it to anyone who will listen.
I woke up this morning hoping they'd finally announced rereleases of the older games and instead got Dragonite with ear-wings.
It's become clear to me that
-
There is zero chance the series ever trends back towards the way I liked it - the new games absolutely print money on what appears to be a low budget
-
A lot of this is just old man yelling at cloud
So, I went out and bought Omega Ruby. I figured maybe replaying a gen I like, on the more modern presentation style of the series, might loosen me up to trying the other games I let pass me by. I'm aware that even this game is a decade old but we gotta start somewhere. Already picked Mudkip and got past the first gym.
