That the cast of future games is smaller and the story is darker. Meaningful plot events that actually have an impact to the story and world. Trails through daybreak was a good return to form. Trails through daybreak 2 unfortunately reversed course again.
I prefer the smaller casts since it gives each character more screen time so more time to develop their own stories and character development etc. Cold Steel 1 was great, but let down by Class 7 being too big and not developed well enough (exceptions are Fie and Emma by the end of CS4). Cold Steel 3 was my favourite of the cold steels, but overall its story was let down by too many cameos stealing the spotlight and not giving new class 7 a chance to shine
this is a problem with way too many games and not just trails, but I really hate when the protagonists and antagonists are staring eachother down and talking at eachother, and then the antagonists are just like cya later, fuckers and teleport out of there. It happens in like every single chapter
I wanna see what Eins got. I wanna see her 1v1 McBurn or something. And I want ouroboros to be the main villains again, at least for like one entire saga. Having them operate in the background was fine and all but were supposed to be nearing the end of the series so they need to step it up
