While I don't disagree with this isn't Ink Master only been on like in the last 10 years? It's not like we are turning back the clock to the 80's where shit was really really different.

I havent watched it in a decade but Navarro is a dipshit. Do you have any examples though?

There are so many examples, it's hard to pick a specific one.
Women were constantly being treated like they weren't as talented as their male counterparts, (even when they obviously were), several instances of women creating tattoos that were criticized for not being "feminine enough", (and also the inverse, saying that some tattoos of the female form were "too masculine"), comments about women's pain tolerances compared to men, comments about "girly" tattoos, comments about someone "crying like a girl", male contestants making disrespectful comments about female contestants, (often focusing on their appearance, or emotional states). It really just permeates the entire show.
I suppose a lot of this could be considered more sexist than outright misogynistic, but it all just kind of starts to bleed together into a very gross look for the show.
What's interesting is it wasn't as noticeable to me when I watched one episode a week back when they were being initially aired, but when I watch episodes back-to-back, it is absolutely impossible to miss, and just leaves a terrible taste in my mouth.

Remember when they brought back that "hot chick," I think her name was Tattoo Baby? And it was so obvious they only let her do another season because of her cleavage.

Yes, (although cover-ups or getting them lasered off is always an option).

I liked the season where the judges were constantly giving Jamie (I think that was his name) shit for not having tattoos despite him being a pretty decent/good artist. It wasn't even that he was against getting a tattoo, just waiting to get the right one, and he expressed how it was disappointing that for a culture where people give lots of prejudice if you had tattoos, he'd hoped that they would be more tolerant of someone in the business who didn't have any (yet).

Theres actually been three more seasons since then on Paramount+. No more Dave, Oliver or Chris judging, and the show has gotten even worse, but its still watchable

I fell off after the "original" ended. Should have guessed they would find a way to keep it limping along.

Its still fun to see the tattoos, but theyve gotten too zany with requests. Theres no more Japanese dragon day, pin up day, stuff like that. Its always multiple ridiculous elements in 2 completely different styles on the ribs in 6 hours
I only liked the first few as I could guess the winner pretty easily.

Some of them are outright dangerous, like someone getting 4 tattoos simultaneously over a 6 hour period, (the body just isn't meant to go through that kind of trauma).

I liked the art, but the judges were dumb as fuck. TC is right about "feminine" tattoos, but this was universally more applied to the "canvas" rather than the artist. Like if a woman wanted a design the judges felt was more masculine; they would knock the artist for putting said design on a woman. As if it's wrong for a woman to have a hard, badass tattoo that disregards stereotypical feminine aesthetics.

I disagree with TC about unfair criticism toward female artists. Early on there were not many good female artist, certainly none likely to win the show. I think there were only 2 seasons in which women continually occupied some of the top slots, and i believe they won those seasons. There was also some disagreement over whether the first female winner actually should've even been in the finale.

Female artists were definitely judged more harshly than male artists.

Ryan Ashley was an incredible tattoo artist, anyone acting like she shouldn't have been in the finale is clowning, (her master canvas pictured below).

I don't remember the order, but pretty sure Ryan Ashleys season was the first they had talented female artists. Out of the women there, only Ryan and Kelly were stand outs. Ryan, who went on to win that season, was consistently on top, so I don't remember much criticism directed towards her. Kelly was less consistent so of course she got some criticism. I'm curious what were the unfair criticisms?

There were many times where female artists were getting called out for shit that their male counterparts seemed to get a pass on, (color saturation, line work, "toughness" of tattoos, etc). I'm not saying that all criticisms against female artists were unwarranted, but there's no denying that it was a boy's club, (and the critiques heavily favored the men).
Also, refer to post #8.

No. In fact, in the seasons since he has been replaced, theyll occasionally show flashbacks of old episodes with him speaking.

In all the YouTube vids, he's edited out. You can hear his voice, but they don't show him. It's weird.

In more ways than one. Christ, the season where Sketchy Lawyer left honestly pissed me off. He wasn't the best artist, nor the best person, but that entire season was one long bit of women keeping shitty female artists in just because they are female. He called them out on it, then just said fuck it and left.
