Should be hitting Netflix soon, might chug an energy drink and see how much of it I can watch tonight because I don't have a god damn thing to do tomorrow anyway.

I didn't watch the trailer at all so I could go in blind. I wonder how they're going to shoehorn another game or two into this season; with the way last season ended I don't know how they could, but I feel like they will because that's what people expect when they watch the show.

I still feel like a fucking idiot for not immediately recognizing that 001 was the Frontman for the entire previous season as soon as I saw him. They didn't even hide it at all, I just completely forgot what his face looked like between scenes.

Has that started already??
WHO MODS THE MODERATORS?
Oh shit, I'm hyped. Guess I'll start watching.
How quaint.
Damn, episode 2 is hype.
How quaint.
Just finished it.
Absolut dogshit lol.

This should have ended at the end of season 1.
Season 2 was ok
Season 3 part 1 was eh.
Season 3 part 2 was absolutely stupid. And the last episode and final ending sequence was the dumbest shit.

I like Season 1.
Season 2 wasn't as good but the characters were way more interesting and compelling to me.
Season 3... What a miserable viewing experience. Just unrelenting bleak.

But I'll say this, it did ignite something because Player 333 what a fucking ****. I don't think I've hated a character more than this prick.

finished it and I kinda stopped caring once the son and elderly mother died. The detective storyline was also a huge waste of time.

Finished it as well. The show was originally meant to be written for just one season, and it shows. Gi-Huns motivations, especially towards the end, feel so forced.
Poor detective never got to be actually relevant to the plot lmao

Do you think we'll get a Squid Game 4 in America

I think they are doing a spinoff/follow up. But it won't be 4.

Honestly I'm not excited now. Squid Game 3 wasn't the worst thing. But that was a huge letdown.

Season 3 implies there was a season 2.....wtf
Science and Algorithms
Season 1 was the best

If you do feel the need to watch 2/3 skip the detective/boat scenes

US games spinoff would be interesting also very diverse too.
Alhamdulillah!
Kinda disappointed it went for the safe and obvious ending. Capitalism wins, nothing changes etc etc

Honestlyits annoyingly obvious this was supposed to be one season but the set up episodes in season 2 bloated it a bit so they just split it up. Dumb AF but w/e. Ive still enjoyed it - have to finish the rest of ep 5 and then 6, but season 1 is far and away the best season.
Hmm...
Season 3 was great. Intense as fuck but I didn't feel sorry for anyone but the baby.

Well that was total shit, the recruiter killing himself way back in season 2 was an omen for how the rest of show would turn out. Ending was awful and the last few minutes were just an ad for the David Fincher American Squid Game spinoff which as much as I like Fincher and Cate Blanchett , this season was such trash that I'd rather it not exist.

Hey I liked it, but y'all know me I haven't got taste.

Anyway, I think the deal with the VIPs is that they told them to talk stilted so a Korean-speaking audience can understand them a bit better.

I'm glad that it looks like the American show is a spin off in the same universe. That's really the best thing to do.

Depressed, but I get why they ended it like that. Not looking forward to Squid Game USA despite David Fincher being set to direct.

The entire social dynamic changes with an American setting, which I honestly don't think fits the premise.

I got through episode 4 earlier and I hated seeing the merc team getting wiped, and the detective unable to put 2 and 2 together and figure out the captain works for the frontman. What an idiot, and he was way too slow from stopping the Captain from slaughtering the entire boat (except for 1 who survives) of mercs. It's frustrating, because we didn't get to see this elite team in action, and I'm feeling this boat arc isn't going as big of impact as we we're led to believe. I equate the losing the mercs to Checkov's gun, if the gun suddenly exploded into a million pieces, before we got to see it in action. Such a waste.

Also, after how depressing it's been, that nearly all of the likeable players in the games this season have been killed off in such tragic ways (much similar to season 1). The show I think really needs to have a more uplifting, ass kicking, and happier final episode. With all the evil people behind these game brought justice, or straight up killed by our heroes. Even if it's a predictable ending. I don't know I have a bad feeling the show is going to go in a different direction, and it might be an unsatisfying one. I'll hate the show, if the MC becomes the next frontman, as that's such a stupid twist.

It makes sense, since in the first season one of the VIPs specifically called them "the Korean games", which implies that they're also held in different countries and presumably with different rules.

The irony of a criticism of capitalism getting two more seasons that didn't even add anything to the story, world, or characters and was literally just a rehash of the first season
Capitalism corrupts everything. I mean Amazon of all places has two major shows that criticize capitalism to insane degrees (the boys and Fallout) and it's okay to Amazon because it makes them money and they can market it.

That's also how Squid game is treated.

just finished the last episode. yeah, i dunno what to think of this ending tbh.

i still dont know how to feel about the whole idea behind including the baby as a participant in the games by taking the place of her deceased mother. like i know these VIPs revel in watching these participants fight and kill each other over money but i felt like this was way too fucked up, i dunno... lol

and i guess that ending scene is teasing the American adaptation.
What a shitty final episode and season. I'm definitely not watching any squid game spinoffs. That shit was way too depressing with no satisfactory, crowd pleasing moments.

If I was running the show, I would've had at least around a dozen players of the season 2/3 arc survive. The mom and son, pregnant woman and her baby, transgender woman, cowardly guy, a few others including no-name characters. I think I'd still have Gi-Hun die at the end, as well as his friend, and maybe another likeable character.

Most importantly, the detective storyline would have a payoff. The detective would behave more competently and put two to two together, as well as do some investigating of the captain off screen, after he got the tip about the captain. We don't know that the detective is one step ahead, until after the captain gets off the phone with police, and goes to get his machine gun to kill the mercs. As he's about to aim his gun at the mercs, the detective shows behind him and shoot the captain in the arm, wounding him.

Then after informing the mercs that the Captain was going to murder them. The detective radios to the other ship captain, who we've assumed had the other mercs on that boat. It turns out he's tied up and held at gunpoint by the mercs over there. We then get flashback to how the detective figured out the whole plot, that they we're about to be setup and killed.

And now we're setup for a potentially better payoff. The detective can force the Captain to give a fake report of everyone on the boats being killed back to the island. The higher-ups drop their guard a little, and the merc team manages to reach the island undetected.

Maybe not every one of the bad guys has to die. They could get rid of some of the VIPs there, including the front man, stop the Korean Squid Game, rescue the remaining survivors, blow up the island, and they still could do the American Squid game spinoff/sequel. With the surviving bad guys returning.

It would at least make for a much final two seasons, then what we got. And it wouldn't be as depressing either. As it stands, I don't think I'll rewatch the Korean series ever again.

Yeah I was thinking that too this season. The way they talk and expressed themselves seemed awfully similar to the way Koreans do. I was getting flashbacks to Resident Evil 1, and the way the American actors and voice actors had to act a certain way for the Japanese audience.

I really enjoyed the first 3 or 4 episodes of this season.

The last 2 and especially the final episode fell flat for me.

I can't believe how the final game turned out. All Gi-Hun had to do was accept the deal to throw that beaten up guy off the platform in the last round and the remaining players could've went home, but he had to stick to the idea of giving everyone a fair chance at living. Then it turned into a free for all, and Gi Hun and 333 suddenly forgot they need to keep some of the players alive, so they can at least kill one of them in the final round.

That's so stupid how the show ended. I fucking hate Netflix, along with all the shows they cancelled. They likely had a hand in how the show would end, with them wanting this show to lead into multiple spinoffs.

I saw a post on social media earlier this week suggesting that, seeing Netflix capitalizing on Squid Game's success, the creator chose this bleak ending as a "fuck you".

Which is to say that the point is that one man can't defeat the system, no matter his ideals. To defeat the Games is to defeat the system that led to the creation of the Games. As long as unfettered capitalism exists, the Games will exist. The best one can hope for is small victories, like the saving of Jun-hee's baby, Gyeong-seok's escape, and the Korean facility being destroyed.

Furthermore, In-ho was "infected" by Gi-hun's humanity, as he showed by following up on Hwang and Gi-hun's daughter.

Small victories, which is all individuals can hope for attacking such a system. That's what I believe was being said.
