How could Biden do this
Oh cool just in time for me to drive from NC to MN... awesome...lol my commute is also increasing from "I can bike this if I just spend an extra couple minutes" to "I have to sit in traffic for 40 minutes to go 10 miles". fuck.
Actions, meet consequences
Gas going up means the cost of transporting goods goes up so that's another thing that could drive inflation on top of tariffs.
I like that I have to go to work as usual in the middle of what's looking more and more like World War 3
Which would mostly effect Asia since they get a lot of oil from the strait.
I do not claim to be an expert on Iranian politics, but this at least suggests that they may not go through with it.
Oil prices are governed by a global market.

The bulk of oil exports from regional powerhouses - Saudi Arabia, Iraq, the UAE, Qatar, Iran, and Kuwait - must transit this narrow waterway. In the past, it was the West - chiefly the US and Europe - that stood most exposed to disruption in Persian Gulf energy flows, but today it is China and Asia that would bear the brunt of any closure.
Hope y'all have filled up your cars, gas is about to skyrocket.
Time to break out the Trump "I did that!" stickers for gas pumps.Unless you know for a fact the person who has to scrape it voted for the idiot.
(Don't actually do that, someone underpaid has to scrape that off)
What promises has Trump kept aside from going after brown and transgender people?
No doubt he'll assure us all that gas is the mythical $1.99 even after it's $4-5+ in every part of the country, and no one will tell him otherwise because America just lets him get away with the lies.
To be fair, if the economy crashes you may eventually see $1.99 gas.
I wonder how much gas will increase in price
A reason he may not is because it hurts their "allies" way more than it hurts the US:

It's insane how people around him including reporters remain silent as he talks so much inaccurate shit. A simple google search will show that gas hasn't been $1.99 anywhere in the US this year. I do remember it dipping down to that last year.they want it to tank as their corpo bosses drool at a repeat of 2008 crash but even worse
When it skyrockets he'll somehow blame Biden.
It was the fuck aroundest of times, it was the find outest of timeswhen they bombed them ''fuck yeah'' when they realize oil price is about to be fucked ''oh no''

It was the fuck aroundest of times, it was the find outest of timesThis dumb bastard really thinks after antagonizing China all year including nonsensical tariffs that they'll help him now? If anything China will work out a deal with Iran to help themselves while exclusively fucking over the US because voted for this pain.

Tin foil hat time, they knew this was going to happen but didn't care / wanted it as to push EV sales. No forethought was put into this.
This will reduce the cost of eggsif no one is able to buy it that is win

Tin foil hat time, they knew this was going to happen but didn't care / wanted it as to push EV sales. You mean wanted it to divert blame from rising prices coming from tariffs that are due to make their way through the supply chain to the shelves.

Yeah I doubt China's going to help on this one lol. Their entire mission being to destroy the USD hegemony and replace it with their own hegemony and the price of oil going kaboom only speeds up the ongoing crash and achieving of their longterm goals after all, I wager if anything they have a lot of popcorn being cooked right now and are just popping their feet up and laughing at the 'dumb Americans'.
That said last time Iran took on the US navy things didn't exactly go well for Iran so we'll see how long and effective this ends up actually being.

From my understanding, most pipelines of oil going into China are already at max capacity. They could theoretically use rail and trucks to bypass Hormuz but that would cost a lot of money. They will be mining it.
It will be virtually impossible to just close Hormuz to just Western ships.
