The Prometheus movie should have had the guts to do the original idea SPOILERS

There was originally going to be a section of the movie that reveals that Jesus was a human that the Engineers took into space to educate on becoming enlightened to the Engineer way of life. Then sent back to Earth to spread what he learned. But when he was killed, the Engineers decided to wipe us out (and then they accidentally fucked up in an accident and the wipe out never happened)

But it could have been cool if they actually showed those events maybe in a flashback.

I heard about this before but tonight I learned that the reason they ended up cutting this part was they feared making religious people angry

That sounds pretentious.

Which the movie already was, but this seems even more so.

That sounds like it would have been a few steps in the right direction, especially if they actually explained who the hell the engineers were. I hated that they ramped up the suspense only for them to be these mute dudes trying to kill people.

What exactly would the Engineers' way of life consisted of in this version of events? In the version we got, the motives and morals of the Engineers was entirely opaque. Depending on what message Engineer Jesus was spreading, they might have definitely been evil, though having a narrative where they intentionally tried to black goo us over the death of a single person from a single culture on a single area of our world pretty much would have sealed the deal.

Problem with this is the engineers need Jesus more than humanity does.
