A runaway zebra has become the talk of the town since its great escape last week.
The striped equid, reportedly named "Ed," has been on the run since May 31, which is the night it escaped from its owner's home.
In the days since its escape, the zebra has been spotted wandering around various neighborhoods and even "wreaked havoc" on a parkway near Interstate 24, located about 35 miles south of downtown Nashville in the city of Murfreesboro.
Sightings of the zebra continued through the weekend, but it hasn't been seen since. As of June 2, the zebra remains at large, a Rutherford County dispatcher previously told USA TODAY.
The locals, however, are having a lot of fun making zebra-related memes using AI imagery.
Stuart Irby, a barber at WoodsViking Barbershop, told News Channel 5 in Nashville that the barbershop where he works has been buzzing with conversations about the striped escapee, which has captured the community's attention.
"Everybody's just getting a hoot out of it, here in Murfreesboro," Irby shared with the outlet.
The Rutherford County Sheriff's Office did not immediately respond to USA TODAY's request for comment on June 4.
Here's what we know about the runaway zebra, and some of the locals' reactions to the conundrum, along with several memes.
The exact details surrounding the zebra's escape, including when, where and how the ordeal began, are not immediately clear.
The pet zebra belonged to a couple who were interviewed by a law enforcement officer with Rutherford County the night it escaped. The owners, according to law enforcement, "obtained the zebra Friday night, which escaped the following day."
The Rutherford County Sheriff's Office is asking anyone who has seen the missing zebra or who may have information to contact them.
Not impossible but this means NBC was fooled into posting AI news or that theyre intentionally showing AI footage for a news incident.Probably
Ed's owner is working with a veterinarian to lure him and bring him home.I thought he had been purchased the day before escaping?

I thought it escaped from a zoo or sanctuary when I saw that clip. Why does an individual own a zebra? They're very much more dangerous than horses and donkeys.
