The game (chapter 3) kind of begins on a jump scare lol. I'm in the path for the secret boss though and while it's very creepy and unnerving, it's all atmosphere and disturbing texts, no jump scares or visual shocks.

Also here's very easy way to non-spoiler how to do it: Get S rank (or Z rank apparently?) when you see graded results. If you miss the S (or Z) rank you can actually make it up by paying for it but you once you get to the 2nd graded result without doing either then you lose the opportunity. 2nd graded result follows the same pattern and so on.

Finished Ch. 4 last night. Will take some time away before going through again on a "complete" route.

I didn't get the Shadow Crystal in Chapter 3 because I forgot to equip the Shadow Mantle before going up against the Knight.

alright i got the shadow mantle, hopefully getting the ch4 shadow crystal isnt too spooky :( although i guess theyve been trending towards spooky the entire time, this is the first one that was solidly in creepypasta territory though

currently fighting tenna now so i guess im closing in on the end of ch3. agree with UR that this isn't quite as good as Ch1 (and definitely not Ch2), its still good though

I'm wrapping up CH 4 now and can say with certainty its extremely solid. Lots of lore dump, lots of feels, LOTS of weirdness/creepiness factor. Looking forward to tackling it again but on the Weird route however you access it this time cuz if this was the "normal" route I can only imagine how fucked up the weird route is gonna get

yeah the ch3 final boss is some BS even with the shadow mantel. something seems off about the hitboxes on the swords, the circle of swords attack is some bs. pretty sure this is harder than Sans, havent decided yet. sans did way less damage.
am i supposed to lose and reload the save and retry or something? is that easier? i noticed some people said they got a message for retrying or something but should I just get it done on my first save/try

Yeah CH 4 has set the bar pretty high. Hope Toby has something good up his sleeve for the rest of the series

At this point you may as well just keep a save before the fight and keep playing. Even if you lose to the boss. You can always come back and try later. If you're not having fun, then why endure the grind? Especially when chapter 4 is right there

At present there's no implication that whether you do it first time or on a replay will change anything

on the contrary, i am having fun with the boss, it was just the creepypasta leading up to it i wasnt too fond of

anyway ill beat the boss tomorrow im sure, im not proceeding to ch4 without beating it, i just wasnt sure if it changed after losing once and reloading once ch3 was done

Decided to backtrack a bit and found a puzzle I missed... And a secret room attached to the puzzle. It isn't hard to find, if you fail the puzzle a few times (its a climbing one where you can get pushed off by water) instead of falling back to the beginning of the puzzle you fall into a room with the Jockington Grows A Beard prophecy and an NPC who elaborates a little more on that. Apparently Jockington growing a beard is a sign of the apocalpyse!

The boss itself doesn't change at all but you get some additional dialogue I think the first 2 times you retry on a repeat playthrough.

It's really not worh fussing over and I'm pretty sure you only can get it AFTER you've beaten Chapter 3. So if you're enjoying the challenge then just keep up the grind.

A game has never in my life made me feel so upset and sick to my stomach as ch4 weird route . I didn't even do anything I just felt what I think the scene is daring you to do and I couldn't. The route got too real

The diagetic separation of Kris and the player is executed so ingeniously and at times evilly in this game

Restarted a fresh file to get a "perfect" pacifist save slot. Last time I played thru I didn't even know Eggs existed lol. Forgot how much I love chapter 2. Easily my favorite of the game so far, although 4 is probably the better chapter.

In Ch3 I finally beat the roaring knight. i had to use 4 revive mints, buit whoever suggested to just let ralsie die was wrong. ralsie needs to live so that he shares the damage and it all just doesnt go to kris and susie. once i decided to try reviving ralsie the fight became waaaaaayyyy easier. but i used so many revive mints -_-. it didnt take me as long to beat as sans, however, i feel like beating sans in the game trained me for this, i still feel like this fight is probably tougher than sans
this dark world in the shelter is gonna be some even creepier creepypasta BS aint it >.<

Just beat all of Chapter 3's bosses myself. The hardest one always attacks in a set order with the description saying which one it is so you can memorize or look it up and defend on the hardest attacks while letting loose on the easier ones. The red line slashes and the initial star shooting are near guaranteed no-hits for me but the board slashes are a complete crapshoot along with that infamous corridor attack. I actually managed to save more resources than I was expecting. 3 revive mints which I consider as 2 of them from chapter 3 (one of them is a gold prize from the gacha) and another one imported from like chapter 2.

Also T ranked all the boards. For bosses and overall score T rank is generally lenient enough that if you get an S you can still get T by having Ts in two other places. Board 1 minigame seems to be the exception though, you have to T rank that but there's a very easy way to T rank it. All you have to do is hit the 4 VIP guests with wobbling stacks and you get an automatic T and the game automatically ends. The rhythm minigame doesn't have any real shortcuts but the most important thing is getting as many gold hits. You can even miss one or two notes and still get T with enough gold notes.

ralsie is singing different lyrics, you can see what the song is supposed have and then he sings something else. Hes definitely hiding something >.> I wouldnt ever have noticed when actually playing it cause I was locked in and couldnt read it for shit

And there's just, like blacked out ICE-Es moving at the bottom or something. No gameplay. And then he's like "I'm sorry about the pipes. I knew. I KNEW I shouldn't have done it. But every pipe has to go somewhere! They had to go SOMEWHERE!"

I love weird shit like that. I can't tell if it's somehow alluding to a previous event or it's just him going nuts.

Getting a new generic battle theme is also so hype. I was miffed Undertale didnt really have one aside from the joke hard mode. Most good JRPGs do this.

Whew, my saves got erased so I had to go through everything again, but just finished chapter 3 (got the secret boss and egg) . Loving it so far and really excited hearing that a lot of ppl think ch 4 is even better >:D I love the feeling of discovering secret stuff, I haven't felt this engrossed in a game in a long time

For those of you that have fully completed ch 4, how hard is the secret boss compared to the roaring knight ?

Signifcantly easier. Roaring Knight is the hardest boss in Deltarune so far.

I realized that we've basically been told where Susie lives. She lives in the easternmost apartment building. While it's not outright stated, trying to knock on the door or enter the building when Susie's with you will elicit a response from her rather than the basic knocking dialogue of Kris being alone.

Got to the end of Ch3 and restarted after S ranking round 2 and realizing what I needed to do. Got the thing from that whole shebang ( that was creepy ) and now I'm fighting the thing. Golly it's difficult. I think I got to the last attack once though. Really I should reload and grab whatever other revive items are in my storage. I only have one revive on hand lol. Also I don't think I have the previous shadow crystal equipment on this file.

I am SO bad at the tooth attack . Also both rows-of-swords attacks, but especially the rotating one .

I can't wait to do ch4, but now and then I get the feeling that I might be able to beat this fight first, so here I am.
