I've been watching Blind Wave's reactions to the series and one thing I didn't really notice until they pointed it out is how fucked the perspective is in Metropolis. Buildings and bridges will frequently be so high you can't see the ground below them.

This looks like one of those artistic exaggerations to emphasize her loneliness.

It doesn't even look like the messed up the scale between different layers of the animation, because the pillows are tiny compared to the bed too.

Well, yeah. A specific kind of loneliness. All that bed and nobody to share it with.

I mean, I don't remember this episode, so maybe that's not what they were going for. Just saying that's what it made me think of.

Supposedly, both are inspired by NYC, but I think both Metropolis and Gotham are actually in Maryland in-universe.

They're canonically across the Delaware Bay from each other, with Metropolis in Delaware and Gotham in New Jersey.

Irregardless, for all intensive purposes, I could care less.

Gotham is in New Jersey I think. I remember seeing a map once of DC America

Also people probably think Gotham is Chicago because I think the Nolan movies were filmed in Chicago. But in the comics I am pretty sure it's in New Jersey

Again, that was a movie thing (Snyderverse in this case). Gotham and Metropolis aren't actually that close in most continuities. Metropolis being in Delaware and Gotham in New Jersey is true tho.

I really do like the idea of Metropolis being a more middle-American city. It really shouldnt be that close to Gotham. If it were, Superman could justfix it.

Superman is fast enough that it doesn't really matter where on Earth it is, he can get there essentially immediately regardless.

That's not directly next to each other like the Snyderverse portrayed them. But I guess that was never originally claimed in the first place, but that's where my head went. >_>

I actually prefer Smallville's take on it where it's in Kansas or at least Kansas-adjacent.

Pretty sure the citys being close was just a synder thing he came up with for convenience sake. Although I think the Lego Batman games did it also.

Otherwise it is indeed pretty dumb.

I was curious, so I did a bit more googling.

Like most things in comics, the distance between Gotham and Metropolis varies. Like this map shows them as being near each other but not literally across the bay from one another.
https://i.imgur.com/nltyyBZ.jpg

They're usually depicted as being within driving distance from one another though. Either way, Snyder didn't make up them being that close together outta whole cloth. It's been true at different points.

Like I said, I don't love them being that close, but Superman can be anywhere on the planet in less than a minute, so I guess him not stopping crime in Gotham is no different than not stopping it in Paris or Tokyo.
