Second book I've read this year (first was Camp Damascus by Chuck Tingle), hell probably second book I've read this decade -_- But my toddler is all about reading books and we are spending more time at the library and now I'm getting back into it.

It didn't hook me as much as Camp Damascus did. The scary moments were just not quite as engaging, though maybe that's because there were things from Camp Damascus that were literally straight out of my nightmares.

I do like that he branched out a bit with his storytelling techniques, developing the main character's backstory throughout the book. Book took way too long to really take off but when it does, some of the ideas it explores are pretty freaky. Just wish it didn't cram it all in the last half.

Were you pounded in the butt by the sudden realization that Chuck Tingle books were actual books and not just covers with funny titles about getting pounded in the butt or sometimes not getting pounded in the butt?
Probably the only Mario Maker 2 level I'll ever create worth sharing.

lol
I have been an ardent follower of Tingle since the beginning so I like that he's turned to writing full length novels. I was looking for a way to get back into reading and I wanted to check these out so it all just lined up.

I love that yes there's horror and gore and violence but there's also a lot of commentary about the power of love and inclusion. It's pretty awesome for horror stories imo.

Well, they're inspired by real-life phenomena >_> Like Camp Damascus is about a gay conversion therapy camp and Bury Your Gays is about the lengths entertainment corporations will go to for the sake of earning a few extra cents.

Not sure what to read next. I have the Dune boxset, never touched those books, but also Foucault's Pendulum that I've started a few times but never finished, and some Thomas Pynchon that... I've started but never finished (I don't know how I ever DID complete some of the books in my collection lol).
