SG1 did stop themselves sometimes. Like when the lizard dude wanted to end the slavery of his people and they said "no thanks" and he had to do it on his own.
"I'm going to have to disagree with everything you say from now on. Go ahead, say babies shouldn't be skinned alive, see which side I'm on."
I should watch this end to end. Couldn't keep up with the schedule on TV
Above all things, never be afraid. The enemy who forces you to retreat is himself afraid of you at that very moment.
What happened with the reboot movies?

Fucking lmao. This is the best thing I've seen today.
My head's not torn off, my sunglasses aren't broken. Amen, hallelujah, peanut butter.
Does the series end with a "win" for the protagonists? I watched the first episode so I'd feel let down if it's left unresolved.. Altered Carbon handled this well by comparison, while Starship Troopers Roughneck Chronicles didn't..
Just remember. In the Stargate Universe you can make all your problems go away by triple tapping them with a zat gun.

The TV series got cancelled before they could wrap it up.
Then they made two movies that wrapped it up.
They win.

WHO MODS THE MODERATORS?
I just rewatched the first episode of SGU and Im immediately reminded of the way they added a couple of cool pieces of new tech some of which slowly became the linchpin of some fucked up subterfuge as we discover how shitty some of the characters are.

Unfortunately, Atlantis never got the wrap-up that SG-1 did.

First several seasons were great. Things start to go south when O'Neill leaves the team. I stopped watching midway through Atlantis. They just kinda ran out of steam and tried to do three shows at once.

Those were the continuation and ending of SG-1. They were not reboots.

Amazon is going to do something with it eventually. But they already shot down Brad Wright's pitch for a sequel series, so I'm personally not expecting anything good to come of it.

There has also been occasional talk of Emmerich sequels/reboots, but I've never expected those to go anywhere.
I apologize for nothing!

It does sound like hope for a continuation series kinda waxes and wanes. Who knows what will end up happening, all we know is that Amazon does have interest in the series in some manner but every time progress gets made some wrench gets thrown in the works.

Not those, the director of the first Stargate movie started to whine that SG1 ruined his franchise so he would make some new movies that followed the first movie and retcon away the TV series.

I want to revisit this show. Every single time I visited my uncle's house we would watch it together and I thought it was cool but I never watched it on my own. Only actually saw the movie a few years ago for the first time.

I mean, that's season 8. And while Seasons 9 and 10 are a little different, I still love them.

I love Stargate, I really hope they revive this franchise.

Those were actually introduced in SG-1, in the season 8 episode with Dan Castellaneta.
Yeah, they really abuse those things. Really creepy.

Oh. Yeah, I hope that never comes to fruition.

So I looked it up.
Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin, the same people who made the original 1994 movie, would make a new movie trilogy that retconned the TV series.
I mean, I have no problems with that, just think of it as being set in an alternative universe.
Then Emmerich pretty much gave up because the Stargate franchise had too many rights spred in too many hands and everybody got their own opinions.
Then Amazon bought MGM because of James Bond and got their hands of other franchises like Stargate.
Mike Hopkins, the #2 at Amazon only behind Jeff Bezos, is a Stargate fanboy and instantly wanted new Stargate projects.
The problem was Jennifer Salke, the boss of Amazon TV and movie productions.
Salke had an agenda, to push female directors and creators to the forefront at MGM.
She wasted millions blocking all kind of projects, changing breast size in Tomb Raider, turning James Bond female, etc.
Mike Hopkins tried to make her start new Stargate projects, but she had no interest in guys jumping in space portals so she always delayed it.
Amazon finally got tired of her and se was recently bought out.

The problem with doing a continuation of Stargate is some of the cast is just too expensive to hire now, like Jason Momoa from Atlantis.

I remember at one point during all this in addition to those two or three shows there was a Stargate mmo that was in production for at least a little while.

To say they were spreading themselves thin financially is understating it.

You can continue the series without the old cast, the series is actually set up pretty well for being able to continue with a new team. There's no need for a reboot.
The commercial says that Church isn't for perfect people, I guess that's why I'm an atheist.
I mean, they got at least a dozen off-world bases, they can easily make a show following a team from one of those bases. That way they can both place it at the same time as SG1 or later without any problems.

What I would do is two series to start. One would be a new series following a new cast, but still set in the same continuity, with older characters occasionally showing up as guests/recurring if it makes sense. The other would be a miniseries bringing back as many cast from all 3 shows as are available and affordable, which explains what's happened with Atlantis since that ended (it didn't end with a cliffhanger, but not everything was resolved by the end) and wraps up Universe (since that did end with a cliffhanger).
