Fun Fact: Monoco is actually the dog of one of the devs.

Explains why he's so loyal and lovable (and furry)
He's in the game too, the actual dog.

For the "tricky" something, it fires two orbs high in the air then runs up to you. Parry the first instrument hit, then ignore it and focus on the orbs dropping from above and parry those.

Also in the prologue, there's a missable red version of the expedition outfit that kind of gives Daredevil vibes. You get it by doing a quest where you're supposed to give an outfit from a soon to be Gommaged Dad to his son. The son says that he thinks the outfit would better suit you.

The dad?

He's friggin blind!

Hell of a fight that was, huh? I especially loved the victory sequence to finish him off. So cinematic.

He was on the way to the harbor, on that long path where you talk to most people IIRC. Not sure specifically where, but he wasn't off the beaten path or anything.

I've had it in shops and in the equipment menu. It's annoying, if very minor.

I finished this up today. I don't usually like turn-based games but this was mostly enjoyable, at least for the first two acts.

I will say that the game play fell off completely after act two for me though. The balance in the first two acts was good, but the balance after act two was awful. You can choose to either one-shot almost everything or have very long battles that have you needing to regularly parry five to seven hit combos with awkward timing. Neither option is great. The first two acts had a nice mix of longish fights and short fights, with a varying level of difficulty in parrying that was satisfying to learn. I would have liked that to continue in act three.

Deciding if I want to give NG+ a whirl, I'm thinking I will after the patch tomorrow.

We know they're nerfing Stendhal a bit and I expect Medalum will be fixed, for those unaware it's doing 400% damage instead 200%. So after the patch there might be some better Maelle weapons.

Anyway it took me 80 hours to 100% on normal and that's with taking my time and exploring every nook and cranny.

If you do, try and get those festival tokens at the beginning of the game and see if the baguette weapons are for real In NG++ if you ever get around to it. If you want to that is <__<

How much does Power on a weapon affect damage? I got a second weapon for Monoco. I much prefer the bonuses of his starting weapon, but it has 409 power versus his second one's 660. Second one has better scaling so that accounts for some of it, but no more than like 50.

Power affects weapon damage more than scaling, I believe. Elemental damage also needs to be considered, but always go with power first, especially early game. Later on, you can go with weaker weapons that have great effects (such as Verso's Dualiste weapons), but at first you should focus on raw damage and upgrade your favorite weapons wherever you can.

Also, just last night I unlocked Esquie's ability to fly, which means that I reached the huge plot twist. I gotta say, I'm usually good at putting things together, but that twist really surprised me. I totally did not see it coming. I see sequel potential where I didn't before (this is my opinion before seeing the ending, of course).

I haven't beaten the game yet as I want to wrap up stuff like the white Nevron quest, but I think I'm going to beat the game this weekend.

Fixed Medalum third Lumina doubling all damage in Virtuose Stance instead of doubling only Burn damage.

Stendhal: Reduced damage by 40%.

I mean that's still more than enough to one shot Simon on NG+ 5 times over.

And if that fails, use Gommage .

So, I'm only just now doing Yellow Harvest in Act 3. I never found the wall climbers in the first section until now. Just steamrolling these pathetic enemies with just my basic attacks and Free Aim.
...I think I'm done here...
Really, they should've given the super bosses some kind of in-built protection for this, like an inherent damage cap or multiple health bars that are damage gated. Or cap PP to 99,999 or even 999,999

Honestly they should have just not made damage go so insane. Going from a 9999 cap to a million+ with PP is completely uncalled for and makes the game impossible to balance properly. What PP should have done was calculated damage above 9999 logarithmically. So every 10 points of damage above 9999 is just 1 damage, and every 100 damage above 99999 is 1 damage.

Then reduce enemy HP across the board.

You know one thing that I love about this game and kinda proves how good it is, is that I haven't really seen any complaints about how Maelle becomes the main character after Act 1, aside from the obvious MC Gustave dying. I guess this is compromised a bit because the game does have a bit of Great Gatsby/FF12 syndrome where they kinda frame us as having Verso be the pseudo main character/person we see the story through for most of the game (via the camp) but I still think they did a fantastic job in that aspect.

I just started playing today and got to the water area. I have no idea how the hell Im going to get good at parrying. Enemies do this Dark Souls delaying their attacks shit and then the game goes into slowmo which is fucking even more with my sense of timing.

  1. Do the dodge method. Dodge until you get the timing of attacks. When you get perfect dodges, that means your parry could've worked then. Then start partying.
  2. Listen to sound cues. A lot of times, there's a sound that goes when they truly initiate their attack and you can parry as soon as you hear it (because chances are that your reaction is a little delayed to the sound) and be successful.
  3. Look for any visual cues. If they're a swiping/slashing enemy, a lot of times they'll hold their limb/weapon put for a while, then bring it down (the delay that you were talking about). Then parry when they start moving their weapon/limb.
  4. Facetank things and equip the picto that gives you AP when you get hit but you don't get any when you parry lol
The horrors persist but so do I.

Yeah I just hit Act 2 in NG+ and soloing with Lune, 1-2 shotting about everything. There were a few times the reserves had to come in, then Stendhal or Steeled Strike finish the job. Stendhal is still absurdly broken.

I followed this guide on how to get the 100 Luminas at The Fountain at the end of the game. In it, the guy who made the guide says you can kill one extra Nevron, as well as two others that outright ask you to kill them. This is false. Do NOT kill the extra, third Nevron. This will make you fail the quest and lock you out from the trophy. I am unsure if you can even kill the other two and still complete the quest/get the trophy.

I just found this out yesterday the hard way and had to put off finishing the game because I was so fucking livid and couldn't bring myself to play. Please do not repeat my mistake.

On another note, I have figured out that turning Lune into a Crit build and giving her Elemental Trick -> Elemental Genesis skills is amazing. I thought that the attack is 8 different hits split between all enemies, but it's 8 hits on all enemies instead. It's amazing damage output, and with Lune essentially guaranteed 4 crits for every usage of Elemental Trick, no non-boss fight lasts more than two of her turns. Oh yeah, Elemental Genesis crits for almost every hit too, so I'm having her do 300,000+ damage easy. This is with very little min maxing, I think.

I also gave her a weapon that guarantees her two random stains if she has none, which means that even if Elemental Trick fails, chances are I can have her use Mayhem next turn for major damage, too. Next run I'm going to see how her other skills work out long term, but nothing seems to compare to the damage output that Elemental Genesis does. Seems like her capstone.

I let the last one live who begs for death, got 100 Lumina from the hands guy for helping them all, did not get the achievement. It's the only one I don't have. Apparently you DO have to kill the one who begs for it before he does it himself or no achievement.
