I had a topic up but I suppose I'll make this the official game topic for people to generally discuss the game more.

I'm at the main continent after the Indigo Tree. Really enjoying the game so far. Lune and Gustave are cool two first characters.

I'm still kinda shit at dodges and parries. The optional green lance boss kicked my shit in like 10 times but glad I took the time to beat him lol.

Really like the FF9 skill stone like system they have in place for pictos/luminas.

Don't really have an idea on Stats/skills to go after yet. Kinda just evenly distributing between health, damage and whatever the characters weapon scales with.

I also like that after a battle it says "We Continue"

Also, I'm literally 33 playing this game lol
The horrors persist but so do I.
I'm considering getting this game largely because I am turning 33 in a few months.
Ah, yes, the Negotiator: General Kenobi
<sneaky beeping>
Maelle is so good. Figure out how to abuse her Virtuose stance w/ Mark status and wreck most things.

Do it before it's too late!

Also fuck that sheep in the cave lol. I was doing great with parrying it but it has way too much health and literally any hit is a kill. I'll come back because I don't have the patience for that atm lol

I'm still right before the indigo tree. That "boss" gave me a real hard time cuz I kept trying to counter. When I gave a go at just dodging it took me one try

Are there towns in this game? I know it wouldn't narratively make sense, at least from where I'm at in the game, but I love me a good rpg town >.>

My only complaint so far is how bad the jumping feels. Doing precise movements (like with the beach course) feels awful

I just got my swim buddy at the beginning of act 2 and explored what I could for now, back onto the main quest. I love this game so much!

Agreed, the beach course almost feels like a troll. But maybe some skills or something unlock later.

I haven't gotten that far yet but I think I heard there's something like one or something later.

Also, updated inevitable movie/show casting.

Robert Pattinson as Gustave.

IU as Lune

Elite game
Why do nerds always get caught up on the details?
Michael Jordan is both the greatest and most overrated basketball player of all time.
Playing on Expert and reached Act 2. Reconfigured my party and turned Maelle into a one-shot annihilator. The vast majority of combat encounters she can just fire off an AoE and everything dies. I like where everyone is at, but I kind of want to bench Lune. I like the idea behind her kit, but I'm not fond of the execution. On the other hand. It's really hard to say no to the 5-hit Earth damage High-Break attack. The cost is absurd but that one move can nearly fill a boss' Break gauge. The only problem then becomes rebuilding my AP (I get there in the first place by stacking the Starting AP +1 buffs).

Chroma Nevrons still consistently one-shot my party though. It's basically a game of, "Can you play perfectly?"

What would be the use(s) of skipping in battle, and is there a way to manipulate the turn order of the party?

I have rarely skipped a character's turn if it would prevent Maelle from exploiting Mark. But I don't need that strategy anymore since Fleuret does more than 9,999 damage across its 3 hits.

Speed determines party order I think.

Also finished Flying Waters. Curator is one creepy mofo but I can't help but like the dude.

Also kinda scared to use my colours of lumina lol. I have 30+ but IDK if I should spread evenly, load one person or just save. Think I'll just save for now.

How I felt when I ran into this huge boss the game hyped up and it's opening move was like, a 7-hit combo with two jumps thrown into the middle of it. Somehow perfect parried every hit (I wasn't consistent at that though just got super good reflexes that first time, lol)

I got an achievement for taking no damage during a boss fight, felt super awesome. I then checked the achievement list on Steam and saw over 20% of people have the achievement and my ego came crashing back down to Earth :P
The commercial says that Church isn't for perfect people, I guess that's why I'm an atheist.
Dang. Ran into an annoying bug. Fought the small/grown burgeon and when I got it to spit up Lune, the battle wouldn't progress anymore. As in the battle menus wouldn't pop up and everyone's just standing there...

The game considers those optional hard encounters bosses. I skipped the one in the first area, and came back later. Achievement popped when i offed him in two or three attacks

1 million sold and 120k peak players. Love a good success story.

Also I've been rocking a burn build/team. Didn't realize before that burn can stack so it's easy to put a bunch (usually 4+) and watch the damage just eat bosses HP. Gustave doesn't have a great inbuilt burn skill yet so I just stat him to go first and give him pictos that give a chance at Mark and burn on Free Aim shots.

Just beat Ancient Sanctuary.

Not reading spoilers, but anyone know if it has any missables? Thanks all I really want to know before playing a game, as I dont have time to play all the things I want to play once, much less twice to not miss anything. So I need to know if I have to be glued to a guide (and thus wait for a good guide to exist first) or not.

Theres missable content in the prologue I think but you can fast travel anywhere after that. Its totally fine to skip an optional boss or optional area and come back later.
Now Playing: Marvel Rivals, Final Fantasy X Remaster, The First Berserker Khazan, Monster Hunter Wilds
I think I missed a sidequest that's only available in Act t1 it seem.

The stuff at the beginning of the game before the grommage is missable. So far, other than that, I haven't seen any PONRs where you'd be losing stuff.

If I play it will be on the easiest setting (I am old and just suck so no get good at this point). But I saw someone mention there are tricky parkour sections. Is that true?

I play on normal and so far all the parkour stuff is optional, but it's indeed bullshit. It feels like a troll.

Holy shit the bits of humour in this game are amazing.

Gustave shouting GET OUT OF MY WAY as the password and the Gestral getting offended.

Fucking Francois my neighbor lol

So I'm someone who enjoys futzing with classes and skill trees, is there much of that on offer here? Most of what I've seen about combat focuses on the real-time elements over questions of builds and party composition.
Please don't be weird in my topics

Oh definitely. I've talked ITT about how I currently have a burn build/party going. But there's plenty of skills/passives to tune your characters. I wouldn't be surprised if there's some super OP guns build later on lol

My only complaint so far is that it's difficult to plan out how I want to build characters when much of the skill tree isn't revealed yet.

I guess it gives us the early game to explore builds and we have Recoats (which I imagine we'll be able to farm for or buy infinitely later on) to respec once we get an idea of what we want to build

Im assuming the OP has spoilers and I forgot this game came out. How is it without spoilers? It looked sick when I saw the trailers and I remember really wanting to play it

Yes but I'd much prefer the skill tree being at least visible so I can plan accordingly.

I'm enjoying it thus far. About...19 or so hours in.

Combat stays fresh. Lots of potential for builds and tuning.

World is absolutely gorgeous. Lots of different settings and scenery and it makes traversing that much more enjoyable.

Story is good so far. Hasn't jumped the shark which I can easily see a game like this doing. Despite starting out pretty grim, there's actually a lot of personality and humor to run into.

Characters are good. A bit of slow development but the party is coming along nicely. Some side characters are amazing also.

Oh. And OST is killer.

I kinda want to put Sciel in the party as I like her mechanic (I think lol). Just don't know who to take out. Maybe Gustave, but I feel like his Overcharge is crucial for breaking bosses/mimes.
