Pretty good. Lots of stuff it has going for it. I still think it would have been better if it wasn't two Michael B Jordans playing the brothers but whatever. Solid 7/10. Maybe an 8/10.

Some scenes were really well done. One of the more satisfying last act sequences in a while, especially in this political climate. Wish that part was longer tho lol

Slept on it. Solid 8. There is also a oner halfway through the movie that might end up being the best sequence of the year.

It's definitely worth watching in theaters. I regret watching it in XD instead of IMAX. I feel like this film was absolutely shot for IMAX and the framing in 1.9 was weird at times.

this is probably my most anticipated movie of the year. Ryan Coogler is one of my favorite directors in recent times so him getting to do a horror movie on top of that is a match made in heaven.
Born to lose, live to win!
While the film is 100% a horror film i think the best parts of it are when it strays away from the genre. The first act is amazing. The second act when it really leans into the horror is kind of all over the place. But it sticks the landing in the third act.

Also there's 2 after credits scenes. The one right after the initial credits is integral to the story, the one after the full credits is not but it was worth waiting for.

It's also not a very scary movie. Which I don't think is a bad thing but anyone walking into it expecting a Smile 2 or something type film will be disappointed. It's a period piece with horror elements. Bends genres. Lots of comedic moments but not a wink at the camera type thing.

Think it was a really amazing movie. Agree that the first half feels like a completely different movie, but that makes the second half even better. Really well done. Very entertaining, authentic, unapologetically black. Loved it.
SEXY SEXY!
Fucking amazing movie. 9 or 10. Initial thoughts for my Letterboxd entry:

A tour de force that goes way beyond horror. It is also a period piece, a drama, and an awesome musical. The blending of entertainment, complex themes, and technical spectacle cements Ryan Coogler's status as a blockbuster auteur. Jordan Peele x Denis Villeneuve, which is the biggest compliment I can give.

Where do you rank it amongst Cooglers other films?

Highest. Haven't seen Fruitvale Station though

I still think Fruitvale Station is his best film. Haven't seen the Creed films. This was much better than the Black Panther films.

Only the first one is his. Michael B Jordan actually directed the third. Really well too.

Sinners got an "A" Cinemascore. First horror movie to do so since Poltergeist. Just incredible.

Wife and I have been wanting to see a movie in theaters. Maybe this will be it.
