Premise: A cinnamon roll of an alien boy goes to planet Earth to escape his evil candy selling family and gains superpowers by eating candy and other snacks

Actual story content: A "candy" dealing organization employing addicts to kidnap humans to use as spices for their addictive "candy", a doctor who killed at least 8 people experimenting on them to create the "perfect lifeform" out of grief from his child dying as a baby, the President of the alien government using said "candy" dealing organization to get people hooked on "candy" and keep them under his control, and one of the villains wears his dead sister's skin out of grief.

I highly recommend it

I'm shocked at how much they're leaning into it, too.

Like, there's literally no mistake that the Dark Confections are just drugs and their part-timers are full on addicts.

Characters having reasonable conversations with each other is definitely my favorite part of this season. They manage to sidestep any unnecessary drama

I wasn't a fan of how the Patrangers took a backseat to the Lupinrangers. Komura also had a way of shoving too much of the plot at the start and end of her shows with too little in between, imo. Zenkaiger also suffers from that, but is carried by its cast and how creative it gets with its episodes.

I think with Gavv, they already filmed like the first 25 or so episodes in advance, so even as the series enters its 30s it hasn't lost any steam.

I definitely felt like LuPat dragged a bit, but Gavv feels like the total opposite in that its pacing has been excellent so far.

Gavv has been great, I love how the show focuses so much on developing the cast and their interpersonal relationships with each other. I usually dont mind large casts but having such a small group lets the characters have more depth and Im all for it.

It's definitely been the strongest of the Reiwa Era in that regard for me.
