I'm in a different squad with two other CEmen but are you all still using the one Hambo posted in the last topic(Squad ID is MK86Q9SH)? Because I have yet to join that one but I do wanna play with Hambo and anyone else I used to play with here.I'm in that squad, hang out there sometimes when I got nothing better to do.
i still havent been able to figure out a pattern in regards to the monster climbing mechanic.Mounting works like status buildup. You have to hit them with mounting-enabled attacks over and over again, and when the "status" builds up enough to trigger a mount, it happens. But it gets harder each time it happens. First one is super easy though.

The game gives a shitton of tempered Arkveld for some reason.

Usually I'll just wake up my PS5 and start playing with it still in offline mode. But yeah, you and Unsuprised_Pika are the ones I remember playing with in Rise. That was fun. :P
The game gives a shitton of tempered Arkveld for some reason.Arkveld in general really do be popping up flippin' everywhere.
Finally started to just skip all the cutscenes and yeah that helps a lot. I dont know why they insist on trying to have a story in these games. Nobody plays MH for the story, and if you do want that then thats what MH Stories is for.You wouldn't believe how many people complain about this series not having much of a story. It's the modern day we live in. All AAA games must be cinematic.
I liked how Rise handled it. There you just got short intro cinematic for every monster and map, while the main story beats were pretty minimal and non-intrusive. There was none of this boring ass slowly follow this character while they tell you boring exposition shit.
Im just powering through the story so I can get to the good part of the game
You wouldn't believe how many people complain about this series not having much of a story. It's the modern day we live in. All AAA games must be cinematic.Ive seen people complaining about the length of the story too. Not that its too long (which it is for how intrusive it is), but that its too short . People are literally saying the game is only 15 hours long
Do these folks not understand what MH is? The story aint the main game. I hate to come off as the old man gatekeeper yelling at a cloud, but it really does feel like the over emphasis on story was done to appeal to game journalists and casual fans who would never play these games otherwiseI mean. Yes. That's exactly why they did it. They specifically had a director saying that he believes the game's wild success is due to the story emphasis.
Idk man. When the game lets me cut loose and just fight monsters its a fucking blast, but they need to just let it go when it comes to putting a story in these games. Or at the very least get some better writersYeah the story itself is mediocre and the structure of it is bad. It feels to me like Capcom can't really do good stories and it's one of their biggest failings. The walk and talks are the part that people tend to really hate and there's no way to skip them or even speed them up. The cutscenes are often fine or at least somewhat interesting, and if nothing else you can skip them.
I will agree on the inputThe radial menus in particular feel really unresponsive
Sometimes it feels like there is a delay or it just eats my input for no reason. I've broken away from the monster to heal or use status cleansers only to just be running away and doing nothing
Got this sick pic as the quest complete screen. My friends pic from another angle.

The radial menus in particular feel really unresponsiveI think that was a thing in World and Rise too. It's just way more noticeable in this game for some reason. I've also noticed that animation cancelling certain moves is just generally more sluggish, but I'm not sure if that's intentional or just something up with the game.
Im crashing a lot more after the update. Prior to update my game only crashed maybe 3 or 4 times in 100 hours. Last night I was crashing left and right on changing areas.I heard some people say that if your shaders didn't compile after the update, you need to manually delete them to force it to recompile or it will screw things up pretty bad.
Zoh Shia is really fun. And makes me so excited for a raid monster. Once I understood the flame mechanic its a lot of fun shooting the rocks to save peopleI like the difficulty they put on it. Feels much more right without the wounds constantly appearing and giving you a chance to lock it down. I know it's because of Zoh Shia's specific mechanic, but it was good to not have it on the ground half the fight. I don't know if it was intended but I hope they take some of that feedback to heart.
You and blaze over on the MH board got me very excited for Arena Doshaguma with Bow. It was quite the doozy, and I've been playing every weapon for four games now. In Sunbreak I got max rank on every MR Arena quest with every weapon solo, and this felt miserable getting the A rank. I'll post the video later.https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/forum/e/eff334a8.jpg
The menuing in the game is horrible but they've always been bad in previous ones too. Playing Generations was a fun step back through time.Nah the UI in this one is especially ass. Like, I've been playing Rise on the side with friends and this game is a huge and obvious step back from that (even if Rise wasn't great).
is it not possible to cancel out of the radial menu? can't find an answer anywhere. pretty annoying that I feel like I have to choose something once it's open and I've moved the right analog stick. There probably is, but do you not use the setting to click your stick to use something? If so you can just hover over whatever and not use anything by letting go of whatever button you used to open the radial menu.
what's FRS?Full Release Slash I think.
Also speaking of gestures, did you guys download the new free gesture pack? What the hell is "Lay it on me" for? Plus the one immediately after it?! You can combine them to great effect, but that can't be what Capcom intended, right?I'm just gonna gesture in the general direction of Max's semi recent Monster Hunter 1 video and say that people have been emulating certain acts with the emotes in this series since its inception and some lend extremely well to it.
is it not possible to cancel out of the radial menu? can't find an answer anywhere. pretty annoying that I feel like I have to choose something once it's open and I've moved the right analog stick. Not with the default setting. There's a setting you can change to make it so that you have to click the stick to use an item. That version you can cancel out of by letting go without clicking.
my head's spinning from trying to learn the optimal combos for switch axe. what's FRS? also seems like I need to use the morph moves more, unlike in 4U where I just spam wild swing or (sword mode) slash -> double slashFRS is Full Release Slash, which is holding the input for Unbridled Slash (R2 + O + Triangle in sword mode). There are certain combo break points that make getting axe/sword gauge up the most efficient based on when in combos you morph. Sword goes up fastest if you just spam double slash, but you'll chew through the gauge if you don't morph and the dps is a bit lower during combo.
