The dude had throat cancer for so long and it seemed to really destroy his immune system.
It sounds a bit like my friend with out the cancer part. She was checked for it often. The multiples pnumonia bouts and the lung infections just tore her lungs up.

RiP. Sad but not totally unexpected. He had been dealing with cancer for a long time.
Trying is the first step towards failure, so just dont give it a shot and you cant dissapoint.

I knew he had been doing pretty bad for quite awhile now. Like not only could he not actually physically in that Willow series, but he couldn't even do his disembodied voice lines because of his throat issues. I think the last time I saw him doing somewhat okay was a Psyche cameo and he sounded terrible back then too
I don't believe in belts. There should be no ranking system for toughness.
Man I remember him being in phenomal shape during batman. Then he ballooned up to like 300 pounds. Said he hadn't had sex in like 20 years or something. Poor guy. Rip.

Going to watch Real Genius and the The Salton Sea tonight.

He was absolutely one of my favorite actors ever. I so wanted to be him after seeing Real Genius as a kid.

Same here! Hugely formative movie for me
"I, Garland, will knock you all down!"
He was one of my favorite actors early on. I always liked his Batman (as a kid, Forever was my favorite), and Real Genius, Tombstone and Heat are all classics.

He had a lot of charm and charisma on screen without question, it's a bit weird how he seemed to be a mainstay in movies until he hit his mid 30's or early 40's and then he just stopped showing up as much.

Don't get me wrong he still was in movies, it just seemed to mostly be the more mediocre ones and direct to video stuff barring a few exceptions.
Getting too damn old for this crap!

Many actors gain a bit of an ego, Val Kilmer was not alone in this many actors have an ego and it's not limited to ones that are deemed great. It's also a lot easier to be an arrogant douche in your teen or very early twenties and Kilmer's career peaked around then.
He was almost 40 and he went above and beyond just having an ego. He pretty much trolled the entire cast & crew.
