Soda is $6.66 at the US government funded grocery store

ALL soda is sold at a ridiculous markup. That's why you can buy a 2 liter at a grocery store for less than a 20oz at a convenience store. It's the reason fast food restaurants offered free refills for so long, and also the reason they sell you a burger for what seems like a "discount" and then ask you if you want to buy a $3-4 soda.

I've been looking into getting a soda fountain at work and a 5 gallon bag of Coke syrup is ~$110. Those 5 gallons turn into a little more than 8000 8 ounce servings.

I know, just that the increase in canned soda price isn't just because the market is willing to pay.

Though a markup of 200+% is believable, because these 12 packs regularly go on sale at this same store for $3.50. which i guess is either the price the store bought them at from the distributor or still has a small markup, unless they're eating some cost to invoke "wow what a great deal! I'll be more than I came in for"
The name is wackyteen for a reason. Never doubt.
