She was holding the knife to her own neck. The only person she was threatening was herself.

looking at the video. She was close enough that she became a danger to the officers once she turned the corner of the bed. At the point she can cross the distance and injure someone other than herself.

Officers also talked about non-lethal (still not sure why those werent used first),and were talking to her the whole time in Spanish. The officers did all they could it felt like, unless you feel someone getting stabbed and possibly killed is worth her living.

The goal should be no lose of life or injury on either side, and I dont think that could have happened here.

She was literally the Victim of a Kidnapping calling the police for help.
She was literally crying for help. She was the Victim here

I don't know what happened when the cops showed up that made her put a knife to her own throat.
They could have easily subdued her if all she had was a knife. They simply chose not to.

How anyone can defend the cops in this situation is beyond me.

Anyone who takes the side of the cops on this one needs to re-read the article over and over and over and over until you realize your mistake.

If she had mental issues, than this is the reason why cops need mental health profesionals on hand, they are obviously not trained to handle such delicate situations and do not know how to handle it properly.

Having mental issues is not a justification for police to murder you.
