There was an interesting topic on this board several months back that questioned why an entire generation of young men feel so at odds with modern society that theyve turned towards cretins like Trump. I think this needs to be considered beyond simply labelling and dismissing these young men as incels or other such insults.
It's a very complex issue that is way beyond what CE is able to have respectfully and without jumping to every conclusions along the way.
A lot of young men feel/felt left out of, left behind by, or outright persecuted by liberal/leftist groups because how a lot of the groups operated during the Obama-era administration (less to do with Obama, just that time frame).
If I hadn't been on CE/gamefaqs and had subjected myself to the whims of an algorithm, I probably would have found myself falling down those sames rabbit holes, being fed talking points about how much men are hated by the left, with myriad of examples of how/why.
Somebody mentioned purity tests the other day, but the lack of purity tests is why the Right/GOP/MAGA has succeeded like it has. All they care about is whether or not they can get you to vote for them. They don't sit there and question the motives of those who vote for them, hence why you had groups like Latinos for Trump now feeling betrayed. Trump was 'welcoming' to them and that made them feel naturally included.
With Dems, it can instead feel like they must pass a myriad of Micro-tests of things like "can you support LGBTQ+ initiatives/policies" before they'll not be at odds with the party itself.
It's why someone like Newsome is distancing himself from the trans issue, because democratic leadership knows what is causing people to break with the party.
It sucks and is fucked up, but that's the reality of it. People don't like to feel like their every (personal) belief is being called into question by a political party.
Now the right is setting itself up to carpet pull a lot of people/voters so we'll see a natural shift or flip, but that just goes back to why Dem leaders like Newsome are trying to shift away from LGBTQ issues, so people don't feel like they must support something they otherwise might not when voting for the Democratic party.
