I had a nice conversation with my Lyft driver last night....Using translator.

Had to take a lyft back from the hospital - gf had a bad asthma attack in the morning, and needed an ambulance, so wasn't in the best mood for leaving her there overnight.

Got in the car, and the guy spoke Spanish. Language barrier was awkward, but then remember the google assistant could do back in forth conversations in the language. He was very nice, and really cheered me up. Didn't think the thing worked so well though sure it wasn't perfect.

Point is the technology was competent enough for us to effectively understand each other during the ride.

Lyft and uber get a bad rap at times, but there are good people.

Very cool that even with the language barrier he was able to cheer you up! That's a good use of translation technology, and smart of you for wanting to give it a try even though you were feeling down.

Some of the best conversations Ive had were when I was an Uber driver picking up randoms at 2am.

Really cool that technology is at a point where you can reasonably converse with someone in a foreign language.

Yes, was surprised in hindsight i remembered the google assistant could do the back and forth, and it ended up being just what i needed. He was a good dude, so left a tip.
