Honestly, if people had the means to do so they would. Plus you cant just move to a different country and start a new life that is the most difficult part
Once I retire, I'm definitely out of this country >_> Going to Japan or Portugal
I left for Portugal at the end of 2021 and I haven't been back since.Japan it is then

Most people can't afford to move to another state or even another town. Moving to another country is out of the question.
Japan it is then
Also, other countries dont want you unless you have valuable skills. However, it could reach the point where Americans can claim political asylum. If the persecution of LGBT people ramps up, they will have a legitimate claim for refugee status under international law.
Enjoy the higher prices for everything, then.Better than getting stopped by the cops and wondering if Im gonna make it home
The much more difficult language, too.
And how you'll never blend in.
Enjoy the higher prices for everything, then.Everything except eggs

Why not Canada? At least a bunch of places speak English thereNot sure how easy it to become a Canadian citizen, does anyone know? There's probably a lot of fees and applications I would guess.
Enjoy the higher prices for everything, then.I got money and investments from America, I'm good >_>

Enjoy the higher prices for everything, then. That was always exaggerated, but these days almost everything in Japan is way cheaper than the USA. Especially health care and housing.
The much more difficult language, too.Any language is going to be very difficult to master. Japanese isn't as much harder than other languages as it seems. You just have to keep at it, steadily.
And how you'll never blend in.This is true. Japanese people are very polite, but they don't have a very open culture. Compared to most countries it is difficult to get communities to accept you as one of them.
On the plus side, though, you will never have to worry about being called a racial slur or beaten up because you're not Japanese. It isn't all roses though. A friend of mine spent some time over there, he's black, and because he worked a night time job he'd frequently get stopped by the police after his shift, usually due to them suspecting that he might be dealing drugs(which is a harsh offense). On the flipside, he was always released after the conversations on site with them, and not a single bullet was fired at him.
I heard the Philippines is a cool place to retire to. I know it has some poverty there, but the cost of living is pretty cheap and the dollar can buy a lot thereIts really impoverished and you do have to watch out where you are going. There are terrorist cells on some of the islands and kidnapping isnt uncommon. But there are thousands of islands and they need that income from foreigners that do stay there so you will be safe as long as you dont go to some of the bad parts. Which you can say that about any country most likely.

Probably save money too by not having to buy bulletproof vests for my kids so they can go to school
Compared to Portugal? Cost of living is way lower in Japan than Portugal or the US. Why would you think otherwise?
2,500.00$ in Braga, Portugal on average has same local purchasing power as 3,041.25$ in Nagoya, Japan (assuming you pay rent in both cities). This comparison assumes net earnings (after income tax).
???This is America
Portugal is one of the safest country in the world.
