Can he even do that?

SCOTUS will rule that the 22nd amendment is not self-executing.
Officially he will change it to limiting two consecutive terms. If he lives long enough, he will go from there

The 22nd doesn't say consecutive terms, though.
Time is a funny thing, you know? I guess in the big picture of my life, you were only a blip. But oftentimes, those "blips" make the biggest impacts.

He could just ignore the Constitution. Congress would probably let him get away with it. The only question is if the military will commit a coup or not.

It says "No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice"

He just needs the Supreme Court to interpret that to mean once someone has been elected twice consecutively then they're not eligible to run again. That would make it so that Trump could run for a third term but Obama couldn't.

Yup. Same as the insurrection bs. If we want the law enforced Congress needs to take action. Which means the law only matters if Congress cares.

scrotus will just rule that 22nd amendment is unconstitutional somehow and let trump have infinite terms

and we've seen that supreme courts don't care about the will of the people or actual law. one state just invalidated a bunch of votes to let a republican win. so even if trump gets only one state next time scrotus will invalidate all the other states to steal the election
The Earth is round. Two plus two equals four. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris won the 2020 election for President and Vice President of the United States
If the law doesn't make sure he doesn't get a third term, there's still a very high chance his health will make sure of it.

Trump: "I'm going to stay President as long as I want!"

SCOTUS: "Is that an official act?"

Trump: "Yes"

SCOTUS: "Good enough for us."

The key word there may be "elected." No election means he doesn't have give it up. And really? There are tons of ways he can make it happen since there are no real consequences to any of his actions.
He would be like "Well refusing to step down isnt being elected, checkmate constitution"

Isn't that pretty much the exact plot of the new Civil War movie?

Exactly
He will fight it with the "There's no rule that dogs can't play basketball" defense and like the mighty Air Bud, launch himself into a series of unnecessary and unwanted sequels

Why bother? Just suspend elections.
I apologize for nothing!
The constitution is just a piece of paper. It doesn't mean anything unless the people in power are willing to uphold it.

If Trump declares that we will stop having elections, and congress and the courts both back him up on it, it doesn't matter whether or not it's constitutional. Trump can just do it and no one will stop him.
man - noun. A miserable pile of secrets.
EXAMPLE: What is a man? A miserable little pile of secrets. But enough talk, HAVE AT YOU!
Run it up to his SCOTUS, who will argue that the framers never explicitly addressed term limits as necessary, so they don't really exist.
The food here is terrible. My steak was so tough it attacked my coffee and the coffee was too weak to defend itself.
There is a term limit for US president only because Republicans were outraged that FDR ran for (and won) 3rd and 4th terms.

So it would be completely in character for Republicans to ignore the term limit they worked to get into the constitution to benefit their Orange God.

And Trump is so evil he could easily live another 20 years.

LBJ was eligible for an almost 10-year term. Truman almost 12.

Neither of them wanted it. Great presidents give up power.

This. He's never going to step down willingly. He said he deserved three+ terms in his first term and nobody said anything then when they possibly could have.
