Mandy Moore told her heartless haters to kindly F off for shaming her for sharing a link to her in-laws GoFundMe page after their house was destroyed in the ongoing Southern California wildfires. Yesterday, my brother-in-law and sister-in-law Griff & Kit [Goldsmith] lost their home and everything they own in the Eaton Fire, wrote in an Instagram post on Thursday along with a screenshot of their fundraising page. With their first baby on the way in a matter of weeks, they need our support now more than ever, she added. The This Is Us actress, 40, explained that Griff, a touring musician, lost all of the instruments that he uses to earn a living in the blaze. So many have asked how to help during this unimaginable and stressful timePlease consider donating and sharing to help them rebuild, she wrote.

Moores post was immediately flooded with nasty comments claiming that the actress shouldnt be asking for donations when she could just use her own money to help her family in need. Not millionaires asking for donations for THEIR families.. girl we cant even afford our own lives bc we ARENT millionaires like u. We can barely pay rent .. one person sneered. You have boatloads of money. Wow. Did you help out anyone in Maui/ NC/ West Virginia. Hopefully they have insurance like most homeowners do. But this is crazy obnoxious, a second netizen wrote. Youre a multi millionaire lmao figure it out, a hater chimed in. Yikes NOT a good look from someone of her means a third person agreed. You have an obscene amount of money. I think you could help your own family and also some others while youre at it, a critic added. Moore swiftly updated the caption of her post to address the influx of hateful messages. ****And people questioning whether were helping out our own family or attributing some arbitrary amount of money google says someone has is NOT helpful or empathetic. Of course we are, Moore wrote. The Candy singer explained that her friend started the GoFundMe page and she shared it because people have asked how they can help them. We just lost most of our life in a fire too. Kindly F OFF. no one is forcing you to do anything, she wrote.
Hey now.

I mean, the house she just lost to the fire is also a part of that networth and it probably makes up for almost half of it.

Mandy Moore was making $250,000 per episode of This Is Us starting in season 3

Each season had 18 episodes

the final season of This Is Us aired in 2022

She was making $4.5 million per year on just her TV salary from 2019 to 2022

yes it is fucking tonedeaf to be asking for money to help her husbands band

Everyone involved just lost their homes which, again, probably makes up for a good chunk of that networth. Mandy Moore hasn't done jack shit since that show, and realistically her take home money was significantly less than that after paying out her team.

I'm willing to bet that Dawes band, who literally no one listens to, doesn't make millions of dollars touring.

Idk, not something to get in a hissy about. They realistically are in a very bad spot and can't afford to pay for repairs on their own. Who knows if they'll get fucked over by insurance too. It's an awful thing that happened and Mandy Moore isn't some multi-billionaire destroying the world that deserves this amount of vitriol for trying to help someone that was affected by this lol

this isnt about net worth. Mandy Moore made over TWENTY MILLION DOLLARS cash starring in This Is Us for just six years. Which btw ended 2.5 years ago. So even if shes done Jack shit since then (which is not true btw, she had a starring role in a Peacock TV show) she should not be struggling in any way right now

so she can fuck off when asking for money imo

"They" as in the family.

I don't care about this topic much, I just think it's a bit cringe to have multi-millionare sharing a go fund me for her in-laws.

Like, I'm sure Mandy is helping out by giving some money. It's the go fund me aspect that's just kinda weird. I just see it as a tool for those who have very little options.

She made more per episode in Season 6 than I did after tax in the first ~8 years of my career

Hell, her $85K + $250K bonus means she made more for one episode of a series than I've made in basically my entire career.

I can empathize with their situation. However, asking for money from a following of mostly normal folks who make okay money is just tone deaf. Even with a preface of "nobody is telling you to, just asking" the entire call still comes across as tone deaf. If it was paired with another link to support regular folks or groups that will help regular folks, or even a group that would directly benefit her family too, then it'd feel less tone deaf

I'm not saying she should be fronting them a whole new house or buying houses for normal people devestated by the fires, but if she wants to help her family she should be quietly/privately coordinating among people of her pay scale (or above) to see if they can pitch in.

A semi-personalized request would likely go farther than a post on social media.

Idk the whole thing just feels 'woe is us'

If she had paired her link with links to other resources to donate/give support to, then this would be more of a non-issue. I'd check to see if there are multiple links in her bio, but Instagram requires logging in to do anything just about

You're saying this about a family that lost their home to a fire dude. "Woe is us" is something you say to someone whos tire went flat, not someone who lost their house.
