If they had strung up everyone involved we would likely be living in a much better world.Or at the very least stripped them of their assets and exiled them to Germany and Italy.
We should have just taken notes from the FrenchTheres still time
Or at the very least stripped them of their assets and exiled them to Germany and Italy. No, they would have been rewarded there for their efforts.
I've long been skeptical that the Business Plot was real, mainly because it would be so stupid for the plutocrats to go to Smedley Butler for this. This is true, but Butler had spent decades before murdering people via the military for the sake of the corporations. It's very likely they believed that the promise of wealth and power would sway him. Just like themselves.
It would be stupid because Smedley Butler was, at the time, touring the nation talking about how war is a racket to help the rich at everyone else's expense.
But if we assume the plutocrats back then were no stupider (or smarter) than today's plutocrats, the argument fails.
