My first ever guitars were an Alvarez RD8 acoustic, and a Mexi Fender Strat. Later in life in treated myself to an Epiphone LP.

I'm interesting in upgrading my acoustic guitar. Obviously 99% of my decision will come from going in and playing a bunch of guitars, but I'm curious the consensus on here.

I'm not in a band or anything so I wouldn't necessarily need it to be electric, but I have considered it. I have my eyes on something like this to start out:

https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/314ceSSBrst--taylor-314ce-studio-special-edition-acoustic-electric-guitar-tobacco-burst (There's a similar one at a local shop that is less expensive)

Tell me about your guitars and what you like and don't like about them CE.

My wife has a Les Paul and some kind of acoustic guitar.
Irregardless, for all intensive purposes, I could care less.
My primary guitar is an Ovation Celebrity CC24. I love the rounded fiberglass back and the bright sound it produces. Then I have some random beginner guitars like a big 'old Johnson dreadnought acoustic, some classical nylon string guitar I used for a guitar class in college, and a FirstAct(lol) electric from when I was 14.

My main Bass is my Ibanez SR506. Had it since like, 2010. It's a really fun, versatile instrument. I have it tuned EADGBE so I can do lead things as well as regular bass stuff. The other guitar that I have, that I barely play, is an Epiphone SG. Saw it on a guitar shelf about 17ish years ago and thought "that l'il beaut is too fucking sexy to be sitting unplayed on some shelf". So I bought it and now it's spent 17ish years sitting unplayed in my room.

Pedals-
Electro Harmonix Bass Big Muff. Great pedal. I really like the "Dry" setting which actually works as a way to blend the Fuzz effect with the Dry signal and output them both.

Morley Dual Bass Wah. Decent pedal if you use it right in a mix. Had mine for a long time but I'm going to replace it with the Power Wah Fuzz when that finally arrives.

Digitech BP90. Multi Effect Box. I mainly use this as a little pre-amp/amp simulator, along with adding a couple of effects that I don't have yet on my main chain. Like Delay. Works OK but I'll replace it when I get a half decent pre-amp/amp.

I-Rig adapter- This is how I actually record things. Takes the direct signal from my Bass and effect chain into my phone so I can use my recording software on it.

My first (bass) guitar was a Crate P bass.
Then a Peavey Millennium EXP five string
Then a Rickenbacker 4003 (see profile photo)
Then a Mexican Fender Jazz
Then some weird hollow body that looked like a ES 335.

I've since resold the Peavey and the hollow body.

The Rickenbacker is my baby. The neck got snapped in a car crash so it has had some work done to it. It's tuned to DGCF.

The Fender is tuned to F#BEA.

jackson dinky for over 20 years now. before that had some cheapo bass my parents randomly bought me for christmas even though i never asked for any musical instruments. think it was like a yamaha from kmart. they also got me bass lessons i think i did for like a month and quit. got rid of the bass and then went to guitar center and got a guitar since i thought bass was boring.

never bought anything else. really haven't played much at all in a decade but always wanted to get back into playing. would love to get a stratocaster or les paul. but i'd probably get an acoustic first if i ever do buy something.

As with the Russian, I don't really use the Metal version. It's got some tones in it, but it doesn't play as nice mixed in with my Bass Wah, which punches through a lot better when it's working with the Bass Big Muff. (The Dry/Effect blend the Bass version has actually goes a long way in my mix)

SG 61 reissue in the middle, two Chibsons on the left, a scalloped Jackson DK2M on the right and a Goldtone banjo guitar further down on the right. I have a crappy acoustic and a nylon string as well. I generally buy cheaper acoustics since I like to take them out and about and the elements arent too kind to them out there. My favorite is that Chibson 59 though.. it has this really beefy, chunky neck that totally changed how I view the comfortability factor for playing fast. I feel like my fingers just fly like a freakish symbiote crawling up around the neck.

That 61 reissue has a slimmer neck, but I use it for when Im recording stuff since it has a GK-3 pickup that I use with a Roland GR55 I picked up awhile ago.

The PRS had a much better setup from the box, and I'd say the pickups on the PRS are a bit better as well (also the prs has ebony fretboard and the hb is rosewood or some other equivalent). Otherwise they both have good tuners, both have coil split.

I had the Cst24 set up in D standard.

The fusion iii was fantastic right out of the box. The SC special is great after a setup. Disappointed with the V (binding is awful)
