Nah, Ive only played the prequel Cilantro.
I scored a low scientific notation...Perkeo and Observatory voucher can lead to fun. A few Blueprints and Brainstorms can very quickly make things get out of control.
I'm not sure if any strategy other than steel kings is valid
What, for unlocking Stuntman or for winning on higher stakes?
Cause there's a lot of different winnable strategies other than relying on Baron lol. Most of my wins have either been a result of high chips from a chip joker (Castle is the best one) or a leveled up hand, an additive mult joker (typically Red Card or something else good like Spare Trousers and Flash Card) and a couple multiplicative mult jokers (Hologram and Blackboard are among the best, though Campfire and Constellation are really good too, as well as the unlockable jokers that double/triple/quadruple your mult if you play certain hands)
If you haven't unlocked all the jokers I suggest you do because some of them are practically OP
Those are recommended for winning, not for getting high antes in Endless. With Blackboard, a high mult on Red Card or another buildup additive mult card, a decent chip joker and another multiplicative mult joker like Campfire, Cavendish, Card Sharp or Vampire, you can score reliably high on even High Card hands provided you have spades and clubs in the rest of your hand. I beat Gold Stake on Red Deck because of Invisible Joker duplicating Blackboard (and then getting a rental Blueprint later on)
Multiplicative mult > additive mult > chips in terms of importance. 1.5x mult jokers like Baron and Baseball Card have bigger scoring potential, but they are just much harder to set up and you won't reap much of a benefit if the hand you're playing isn't leveled up enough
Similarly, me too. I think I unlocked a couple of decks and then lost interest. But enjoyed it while I played it.
I beat purple stake todayGrats! Orange and gold are different animals, good luck. Aim for Pair builds.

I scored a low scientific notation...Steel Kings probably is the easiest to get going into deep antes, but some other random ideas:

I hate how one more run turs into 2 hours disappearing.lmao yeah, last night I started a run in the minutes leading up to me and my gf going to bed, but it quickly hit the ground running and "oh shit it's 5 AM" before it died
I beat purple stake todayCongrats! I've unlocked Gold but I haven't ever beaten it (yet).
then you both didnt raise the stakes? You only beat it on easy mode.
Its fun, but it really could have used a couple roguelite features, like being able to upgrade how much money you start with, etc. This is kinda true, 1st 2 blinds suck to play, then when you get a +mult the next 2 antes are pretty easy
It has a bit of an issue where you often want to just keep resetting until you get something good for the first shop if you want a reasonable chance of making a run.
I bought this game thanks to PiOverlord gifting me $25 Steam bucks.Lucky run but you've barely scratched the surface. Things get very interesting when you start getting scores with E values.
Is it easier than I thought or did I just get insanely lucky? I lost in the tutorial, quickly lost one run, and then absolutely obliterated my third one. I wish it had a run history. I don't know all the names of shit, but I had:
* A Joker that added +10 Mult whenever a hand contained Two Pair.
* A Joker that added +3 Mult to any Spade; replaced it with one that added +8 Mult if a hand contained a Pair.
* A Joker that made Uncommon Jokers 1.5x Mult
* A uncommon Joker that gained +2 Mult whenever a hand had Two Pair; I got it very early and it was 50+ Mult at the end.
* An uncommon Joker that gained 0.1x Multi whenever I used a Planet. It was about 2.5x at the end.
I picked up the Telescope(?) Voucher which made sure any planet pack contained the one for my most played hand. Given my Jokers, this was Uranus for the Two Pair. It was at least level ten by the end of it because I got an unlock for it, but I think I managed to get it to eleven or twelve.
I also had a Blue Seal card that made it so I got a Planet if I ever ended a match with it in my hand, but I only managed to get it once despite discarding hard for it.
I definitely see the appeal though. Playing two pair with like 6/2 and scoring eighty thousand points is quite the thrill lol.
I played for a month on release but have they been balancing the game or did they leave everything as is?
Theres been at least one big balance patch since launch which heavily reworked the stakes, tweaked some jokers that felt overpowered and underpowered, and even added some optional crossover face card options.This. Apparently there's another big balance patch planned for next year sometime, idk any other details about it.
Also Blue Seals went from being close to useless to being insanely useful, so thats cool. That change alone helped me get unstuck from the Jokerless challenge.
Sure hope you discarded that to unlock the joker if you haven't alreadyI already did
Vampire + Midas Mask. Vampire increases by x.1 mult every time you play an enhanced card, whereas Midas Mask enhances every face card you play to a gold card. This basically means that every single time you play a face card, it will be enhanced to gold and then converted back to regular while adding to Vampire. Midas Mask will also make it easier to activate Driver's License.Pair this with Paredolia and some build that lets you play 5 cards at once and it really goes nuts.
Swashbuckler + Egg or Gift Card. Had a Green Stake run where I got a Negative Gift Card which meant Swashbuckler increased by +5 every roundThis is especially potent if you get lucky with a lot of Temperances
Photograph + Hanging ChadThis feels nice in principle, but unless you get a lot of mult off the other cards in your hand or a high level for your main hand to play it's actually not THAT great after midgame. The problem is really the scoring order: Photograph triggers when the face card is scored, and that's usually going to be before the jokers in your hand (especially the scalable mult jokers) take effect.
Hologram is also amazing if you imagine to get the Magic Trick voucherThe problem with Magic Trick is that it tends to pollute your deck with useless no-special-effect cards. While Hologram and Magic Trick work great for a high card build (so there's only so much enhancement that actually matters), I prefer pairing it with Marble Joker or DNA or Certificate to give me something with more utility.
Ante 11 kicks me in the balls every timeYeah same. Getting past Ante 12 is a real achievement, kinda hard to do that without a good build.
