My new gaming monitor showed up today.

If you recall, I bought the MSI MAG 271QPX 1440p 240hz QD-OLED for Black Friday, as it was $700+tax CAD. It was easily the best deal out of any of the monitors that I've seen, and I wanted to upgrade from my 8 year old 4k60hz LG that had been irritating me for some time. Fired up Cyberpunk 2077, and the colours were very vibrant. Looked damn fucking good. I mean, the black uniformity between my IPS LCD and the QD-OLED is very noticeable, as are the whites. They look, well, white. Less grey. Very nice to see. It has some quality of life features that frustrated me about my old monitor, like height/tilt/swivel adjustment. The bezel size is the same as my old gaming monitor, which is now my secondary monitor. So far, I like it. Here's hoping it lasts for another 8 years. >_>

Sounds like you are already reaping the rewards of your purchase. Congrats. Im not into PCs or monitors but Im a heavy home theatre junkie who has spent too many years on avsforum with some snobs and some serious experts having discussion about my beloved hobby. I mean like industry leading people. I remember talking over stuff with Roger Dressler who was head of Dolby Laboratories (Dolby Digital) for over 25 years. Being into video/audio I can always be happy for someone when they have a new purchase that brings them pleasure. Thats awesome man.

Turns out that the monitor remembers settings as well. When I switch it to HDR mode, it turns its colour calibration to a user defined one, but in SDR mode, turns to Professional sRGB mode. Very nice. Just need to remember the Windows hotkey to toggle HDR mode when playing games. So far, I'm liking it.
