Also been playing Heaven Burns Red. Gotta say, the hype bh the writing wasn't entirely fruitless. It feels like a one of a kind slice of life post apocalyptic comedy. A lot of the characters are likeable, and the gacha feels generous enough where I don't feel that tugging impatience that I do with most gachas.Unfortunately, I ended up uninstalling Heaven Burns Red because my phone really couldn't handle it. Even on all of the lowest settings possible, I was experiencing minute-long load times (yes, I timed it) before battles and the game was burning through my battery like crazy, As fun as the characters and writing were, it wasn't worth the strain on my shitty phone or trying to run the PC client on my equally shitty laptop. This situation with HBR also makes me pessimistic about whether I'll be able to play Magia Exedra and GFL2 when they come out for similar reasons.

Wizardry Variants Daphne is damn great so far. I forget it's even a gacha. If you just started, it only gets better. It really could've just been a regular game release, and I would've bought it.
I had my Pixel 6 for about 3 yrs or so, and it hasn't slowed down one bit. I think every single Samsung phone I had slowed down in 2 yrs, and I will never own an iPhone even if somebody shot me, since I used to develop Android apps lul
But I'm playing HBR on the PC. Runs well obviously.

I wouldn't fixate too hard on the gacha. I'm using 2 of the middle rarity characters myself. Later you get a single selection for 6 of the legendary character.
This is a pretty hard decision that depends on what you rolled early on. If you got Adam or Yekaterina, you should probably go for a frontliner like Lanavaille or Gerard. Lana is who I use, and she has a bonus if your frontline is all good/neutral affinity, so choose her if your MC is a frontliner and is good/neutral.
If you pulled Lana or Gerard, you probably want Adam or Yekaterina.
If you pulled them all, Alice is probably one of the best choices. She's the only legendary healer, but from what I hear, most priests are pretty serviceable.
If you have them all, then Debra lul. This is also one of those slight upgrade over regular thieves situation, cuz most thieves are usable.
Yeah I'd say most teams pretty much boil down to Warrior/Knight 3 front, Mage/Thief/Priests back, the classic. Priests can also tank. If you were wondering why those terrible one hand wands exist, it's because you can use them on Priests and give them a shield.
You can also put thieves in front and load up on dodge, which is kinda funny, but they'll get one shot in some parts of the game. My Debra is in the back with a bow, and she's been great.
And yeah, all the little events and story beats are fantastic. I got a bit past F7's content, and yeah it just keeps surprising me still. Recently while I was doing a quest in F3, I kept running into this goblin that kept trading my coins for the blue gem, so he's my best friend now
Does it really play like a dungeon crawler? SMT 1 was the first one I ever played and games like that stood with me forever.Yes, it's a bit less cryptic than the other Wizardries but it's a full on classic grid based dungeon crawler with all the glamour and downsides. The monster encounters are real time moving figures on the map rather than being a random time based. If you clear a monster on the floor, they don't respawn as far as I can tell. But if you exit the dungeon, they'll respawn.
just being able to freely explore dungeons, discovering hidden paths as if you were playing Doom or Shadow Warriors made exploration aspect of classic dungeon crawlers worth it for me, I might even say its addicting if you take into consideration the reward/risk aspect of it.
I just beat F8 in Wizardry.Yep lol. It's probably the coolest part of the game. Things only get cooler from here. I did kinda wish that
It's interesting..... you arekilled, sent back in time, and a whole lot of things unlock and you have a goal to undo all the deaths that happen the first time around.
This is interesting. And this is still a gacha game. That's what's wild to me. I still don't feel like this is a 'gacha' game in the essence other games are. This really does feel like a solid non-gacha game really.
GFL 2 is available to be pre-downloaded (for Darkwinter's client).Dang, 11 gigs lol
Dang, 11 gigs lol
For Daphne:Lol good question. I haven't run into that situation yet, but I don't see why not. I think even if you reload, it's good about putting you right where you ended. It's never gonna choose to accept death for you
If you lose all your flames and can only accept death, could you leave your device for a few hours and come back to a flame being there?

Meanwhile I'm at a part where you can be underwater. It's really funny cuz you can't say incantations, so you can't use magic...
