As Good as it Gets is a great one.

Out of the ones you haven't watched, I'd recommended clockwork beautiful mind, or wallflower. Though that's based on enjoyment as films, so I'm not sure if that will translate to usefulness as study material.

Not Melancholia. That was the most boring 2 and a half hours I ever spent on a film.
Every day I wake up and promise I will be nice to everyone, then I deal with people at work and remember why that will never happen.

I stopped at the 10-15 minute mark. I don't do that a lot.

I liked Melancholia. It felt like the 3rd day of Majora's Mask.

I've only seen a few from that list, but The Basketball Dairies is definitely my favourite one.
Save for your doomed future
For the subject I'd say The Aviator would be a good choice.
the shortest one, which I think is Snow White

The creepy basketball coach ( actor ) died almost 20 years ago ( in his 50s ). I could never unsee him as that character.
