Oh god I forgot about that, that was the funniest shit seeing Bowser looking like a complete goober ride in on a dragon that looked like it was from a different game entirely, and then the boss area was a post apocalyptic wasteland with a ruined tower in the background.

My favorite was in 0 when you can do the real estate side quest in its entirety in the middle of mission 5.

You buy all of Kamurocho
You erect a billion-yen statue of yourself
You learn to literally throw money in the air
You have high-profile fist fights in the streets with the most conspicuous people in the entire city
You hire Michael Jackson to be a property manager
You become so famous that random people on the street will light your cigarette for you

Then you move on to advance the story and it's like "oh right I was supposed to be lying low because every criminal in the country is trying to kill me."

About 70-80% of the way through Indigo Prophecy, it goes from what was a really enjoyable weird game to... just weird?

I mean, it was still good enough to finish, but it felt like a left turn into WTFsville and just kept going.

Was about to post going in blind with conker's bad fur day on the nintendo 64, but you know what, scarlet nexus really pops into mind for something more recent.

Some minor spoilers for scarlet nexus and it's 2 main characters: A little early into the game the guy MC's father gets assassinated . By the time the guy MC and his team gets to the location where his father got attacked, you see the girl MC standing over guy MC's dad's corpse holding the bloody knife that he got stabbed by . *If you picked the girl MC as your main character (this game operates on a star ocean 2 and tales of xillia 1 claude or rena/jude or milla type of system) you will see that she didn't do it......she just.....stupidly walks over to the bloody knife and picks it up herself . For no reason. She also sees who did it (one of the teammates working as part as her group) but its like.....why'd you do that? Eh. *Guy that killed the dude MC's dad is a total jokester and just clowns about this for the rest of the game. He is meant to be that FF8 irving, tales of symphonia zelos, tales of xillia alvin etc. type of character*

Anyway, guy MC is understandably pretty pissed when he comes over to see girl MC holding said bloody knife and standing right beside the dead body .....again for reasons. The two get into a fight . Its from this point that the two squads (guy MC and his 4 party members vs the girl MC and her 4 party members) split, and the story frames it as the girl MC and her squad are traitors and on the run.

Despite the stupidity with the bloody knife and the girl MC knowing who did it but says nothing , this in itself isn't that bad a story beat........its the fact that the 2 different teams still hang out like normal as part of the character bond episodes system. (Game has a system where the MCs and all the teammates bond, which gives you more abilities). The traitor team where one of them is responsible for killing the guy MC's dad and abandoned their group to temporarily set up base in a rival military faction's town can respond to your telepathic e-mails (every time the guy MC and girl MC (from her point of view, you send out hang-out invites to the guy MC's squad, and from his to her party members....the message always start as "hey so I know things are crazy right now/we are actively fighting, but that does not mean we still can't hang out does it? .........lol I'm serious) and hang out with you at a apparently neutral ground cafe to bond and pal-around. It is the absolute dumbest shit that makes no sense whatsoever, and every single person that played this game doubled back thinking what in the fuck, why can these two groups still hang out?

*More later game spoilers* It stays stupid right up till' the end, when t he two teams call a truce and decide to form back up as 1 group again, and thus all decide to move back in to one hideout with one another . Everyone is grouping up and having typical anime hijinks in their group home, WITH THE GUY MC's DAD's KILLER . You bond with this guy, and while the guy MC does have a minor 1 vs 1 fight with one another during their last bond episode or whatever the fuck, its just as quickly swept under the rug and they go right back to being genuine friends and hanging out . lmfao.
