Trying to download a whole bunch of YouTube videos, and I'm getting walled.

I tried a ytdlp gui, but it downloaded exactly one video before it stopped working. I tried JDownloader 2, which worked a bit better, but also stopped after only 10 videos. It says that my cookies are fine, but it just won't download any more of them, saying they're temporarily unavailable.

Thought I might try ytdlp without a gui, but the guide I was using linked to a download that doesn't seem to work at all as part of the setup. So now I'm just floundering and getting annoyed.

The videos I need require cookies, or else things would likely be easier.
Well I deleted all the videos that were grabbed in Jdownloader, grabbed them again, and it started to work, so I guess that's that. Not sure if some of these files that are being skipped are actual repeats, or just have the same title. I'd imagine I could grab removing all the ones that were grabbed and just changing the output folder, then trying again. Or maybe not, who knows.

I remember someone directed me to that for another reason, but I wasn't really in the mood to figure it out, so I just got rid of it. Definitely seems like it could be useful to learn, I just generally don't need such things.
Huh, well it stopped again. I've got exactly 20 videos fully downloaded, so it might be a pattern of 10 every time. Which is kinda irritating.
Change ip?

Well I woke up, tried to do more with Jdownloader, failed, then went back to the ytdlp gui. Redownloaded my cookies, and so far it seems to be working properly. Of course, I can picture in my head my internet cutting out and me failing to get everything. Who knows I guess.

What's the point in downloading them?

Why not?
Shut your BF28/9 sound hole and listen up.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice? Strike three.

Due to them being paywalled, it means fewer people are likely to have seen and saved them. People can be fickle and delete/hide years and years worth of videos that I would consider valuable.

Because stuff sometimes gets deleted.
The difference between fiction and reality is that fiction has to make sense.

221/792 now lol, I cannot believe my internet hasnt gone out and made things harder for me. It notoriously (for me) goes out much more than Id like generally.

325/792. I'd like to complain about the relative slowness, but I don't think that's fair, considering the volume of videos and the fact it's still going.

438/792. I think if I'd been doing it through Jdownloader, it may have been faster... but that one didn't work for me, and this is still going, so gg.
What issues are you having with the command line yt-dlp? Seems pretty straightforward.

Well I mentioned the guide wanted me to download a very specific ffmpeg, and the link I was directed to did not trigger a download. Then I was uncertain if the other links were acceptable for what I wanted. I was already frustrated with the whole thing, so I just wasn't in the mood. But the gui version started to work for me, so all's well.

545/792. I really don't want to jinx it, but I think it'll make it.

732/792. There was a scare for a bit, when one thing failed to download, but it's been downloading two versions of the videos, then merging them, so even though one failed, the other worked just fine.

Thanks for the idea. I'm not sure if I could insert my cookies into the site, which I'd need to do, but it's good for future reference.

792/792. I had a brief outage at 790, which wouldn't have been so bad, but annoying. Took longer than I expected, but now it's done. I ought to figure out a better way to store this. I know external hard drives don't last forever, though this one is pretty new
