So for anyone who didn't see my other topic, me and some friends have had a trip planned to Asheville for the end of this month.
After the hurricane I have been desperately trying to convince my friends that we should postpone, cancel, or just go somewhere else, because the residents there don't need tourists getting in the way right now. They insisted we just wait cuz "their streets should be cleaned up in 3 weeks" and "they could really use the tourism money right now." They have been severely underestimating the damage. I was outnumbered 4 to 1.
After several days of arguments, and a day or two where I completely ignored them, they finally came back to me and conceded. The trip has been cancelled and after checking to make sure the area around Roanoke, VA was minimally impacted and safe, we will be going there instead at the beginning of November.
What a relief.
