Maybe Arnold Schwarzenegger

When he goes, that will be huge.
For me it's going to be him.
Trying is the first step towards failure, so just dont give it a shot and you cant dissapoint.

Yeah, Ahnuld will be a big one. He represents an era that people think back to fondly.

I see some people saying David Attenborough but isn't he like 99? For a death to shock the world, it has to be unexpected, a celebrity dying of old age would get comparatively less fanfare.

Either Paul or Ringo.
Taxes, death, and trouble.
Brunt/Gaila 2024. Make Ferenginar Great Again!
My first thought was Robin Williams, but I was pretty young ~10 years old when Michael Jackson died, so I didn't really experience the full impact of his death. I remember hearing about it, but I didn't use the Internet much at the time so I never really got a grasp on how much it shook the world.

But for future celebrities? Yeah, it'll probably be Taylor Swift.

For a unique answer I haven't seen yet ITT, Dolly Parton will probably be pretty big

Let's-a go! Okey dokey!

It doesnt have to be unexpected. Look how crazy some people went over the Queen dying.

The Queen was a very unique individual, especially for her symbolism and just how fucking long she lasted, I don't know if it's comparable.

To David fucking Attenborough?
If we're only talking future deaths, then two that are gonna suck for me are Morgan Freeman and Samuel L Jackson. Those two are so iconic in any movies they're in, but they're getting up there in years

Why be stupid? Does it make you happy to be stupid?
Like to ME or to the world?

To me it was Stan Lee and Akira Toriyama followed by what will be Bob Dylan.

As far as for the world? Fuck if I know. Ronaldo? I dunno I don't watch sports.
his comparison suggests we're closet african americans.

It was definitely Michael Jackson. I was in middle school at the time and knew nothing about him or his music but I still remember the media storm around it.
Hope rides alone
Strangely enough? Jon Pinette. I only started familiarizing myself with his work a year before his passing and I just couldn't stop laughing at all his comedy bits. To know he passed not long afterwards was deeply saddening.
I suspect therell be a lot of celebrating when Trump kicks it.

Note that this is not a wish or a celebration of my own, mods. Its just a prediction of how society in general will react.

I'd say T Swift. She's a world famous billionaire pop icon. Her suddenly dying would be felt the world over.

I'm assuming she'll outlive me otherwise.
Jackie Chan

Kaze no yo ni Hayaku!
Queen Elizabeth II did it for me. I've never seen the world stop like when the flag at Buck Palace was at half mast. We all knew when the black ties came out. The entire world came to her funeral. I remember seeing the Typhoons flying past LHR for RAF 100, the skies were uncomfortably quiet on that day in 2022.

No, I'm not that one.
Assuming its not a natural death from old age it'd imagine obama's would be huge.

I know it's morbid, but I found myself thinking on it. I'm not sure if there's been a moment quite like Michael Jackson's since. Look into the next 60ish years and tell me, what day will have the most mourning?
I was gonna say Michael for mine, probably the biggest I can remember. I also remember many celebs dying that year due to the South Park episode about it
Personally, probably Stone Cold

I feel like Snoop Dogg will get a lot of attention when he dies.

If he's not the most famous rapper ever, he's certainly the most visible. Given how hip hop culture has spread to other countries, I'd say has passing will be fairly significant. Certainly not on the level of a Michael Jackson, but nevertheless quite significant.

So far for me it feels like it's Diana.

The Queen was huge, too, obviously, but I feel like the fact that it wasn't entirely unexpected given her age, and that it didn't come with the whole "literally hounded to death by the press" angle meant that Diana's felt like more of a seismic culture shock moment.

The one that upset me the most was Sir Terry Pratchett, but I just don't see anything in my life time having the shocking national impact of Diana.

^This. Even as someone in the US I felt sad about what happened to Diana and Dodi. It was tragic and completely unexpected. I still remember George Clooney going in front of the camera and lambasting the paparazzi for hounding her.

I dont tbh

i remember where I was when Prince and Bowie died, but by the time MJ died he had long been a punchline for many reasons

For me personally? Don't see anyone topping Steve Irwin.

^^This caught me off guard and the world felt darker afterwards. He was a gem among humans.

Robin Williams was another I felt genuinely sad about. But Steve Irwin hit me in my childhood.

If we are talking in the past Chris Cornell. It seemed like Soungarden got back together and were making music again when he killed himself. Leaving Eddie Vedder as the last surviving Grunge frontman.

For the future If any of these five died tomorrow it might be impactful for me and probably others
Beyonce
Taylor Swift
AOC
Kendrick Lamar
Shohei Ohtani

Edit. While typing this post my past death got posted literally the post before. So will mention Philip Seymour Hoffman.
Hey now.
Personally? None, as I don't get personally attached to celebrities or public figures....

Non-personally? Queen Elizabeth II by far. Especially since I'm from a commonwealth nation which has had the woman's face on our currency for my entire life....

I'll admit as well that there will be a sense of joy in me when Rupert Murdoch kicks the bucket.

Especially if he loses his case in Nevada, leading to his kids usurping the fuck out of Lachlan as a result upon his death.

I was alive when Michael Jackson died.

MJ, Elizabeth II, Diana, Kurt Cobain were the most publicized that I remember.

Future deaths probably Arnold. Who doesn't like Arnold. It will also depend on how a celebrity dies. Sketchy circumstances always gets more media coverage. Like all the guessing games about Kurt's suicide and whether or not Love had him killed.
This is where cool people write stuff.

So far the celebrity death that hit me the hardest was Robin Williams. The one Im most dreading in the future is Christopher Lloyd.

Michael Jackson didnt really affect me. Maybe if it happened at a different point in his stardom but by the end it was all tabloid weirdness. Im not even a believer of the more serious allegations against him, but my most prominent image of is later days is of a man holding his child out a window and thinking this guy is not well.
