I was on the phone with a client and my phone lit up with a text from a buddy with the news. My jaw dropped.

Dikembe was one of those players that I sports-hated when he was playing, and I loved once he retired. Great player and a greater human being.

I was a pre teen so I wasnt really in the streets like that but he did come to my church a few times. Very humble just sat with his family no fan fare or shot outs from the pastor or anything just like a regular dude who was taller than everyone sitting down. I also ran into him once at this event a few years after that I cant remember what it was but it was kinda like this pop up flea market where a bunch of people had booths set up selling and promoting random shit. He even talked about the time MJ dunked on him
