Barring vehicle incompatibility that is.

From what I understand, it's fine for any vehicle made after 2001, it's mpg on average can be 2-4 less compared to 87, but given that it can be 20-30+ cents cheaper than 87 you're ultimately saving money.

I don't know about that. It sounds like you're sacrificing around 10% fuel efficiency for about 10% cheaper gas. In the end, it costs you about the same.
What the hell, when did GameFAQs clear my signature and quote?

Octane isn't necessarily fuel efficiency as much as performance. One might not get better gas mileage using a higher octane.
I'm not here for friends. I'm here for the truth to the best of my knowledge of it, even if it's not what people want to hear.
Why do you keep calling it E88? It's Unleaded 88 which is otherwise called E15.

you should read the engine manual. some engines are designed for the low octane

My local gas station doesnt even have it. We have unleaded 87 with 10% Ethanol (E10) and 87 with no ethanol. Thats it.

I use unleaded 87 with 10% Ethanol as it is currently 52 cents cheaper and the mileage really isnt enough to pay for the non ethanol blend. If I had the option of using unleaded 88 (E15) and it was significantly cheaper? Sure. Its just a 5% difference in Ethanol and a minimum octane difference. Id probably use it.

I wouldnt ever use E85 though even though my truck can take it. Guys at work have used that and their gas mileage drops so much its not really worth it. At least according to them.

Ultimately even though I drive to work regularly I only need to fill up once every 3 weeks. Its not really a big issue for me.
