So one of my two therapists told me she isn't specialized in trauma so we should no longer see each other. I cannot handle this

Recognising that she can't give you the help you need is a good thing.

Even better if she could recommend someone who can.

It's one of my favourite games ever! Galaxy 2 was pretty good too.
And wtf at that therapist. Hopefully the other therapist is doing good for you. Or perhaps a new one?
I never played that one but yoshi looked fun.

I'm not mad at her it just felt... Idk, hurtful? Not like she was intentionally doing it to harm me, but like I already know I'm fucked up, you know? It seemed like everything was going OK... I want to see her again when all this is over...

I understand that. She kind of did but it'll take a while to get into that place...

My therapist is retiring this month. I don't know what I'm gonna do, it took forever to open up to him ._.

She really should have.

Like, just giving someone a recommendation is called the "cold hand-off," while the "warm hand-off" is aiding them in contacting (or directly accompanying them to visit) the new clinician.

This is neither, it's just a straight up cold shoulder.

At best it's poor form, at worst it's bad practice.

Being nervous about having your care transferred is entirely understandable. A big chunk of clinician education involves learning how establish and build that trust (as well as how to be worthy of it to begin with), so please know that a good clinician is aware of, understands, and does not blame you for that reluctance. It's something they're practically expecting .

Probably isn't. And yeah, caleb is hilarious, one of the few that still has top quality videos even after a decade.

Thanks I appreciate the insight. It's gotten easier as I've been able to keep busy on the days I'd normally see her, but it's hard to cope with just a single therapy session a week. I mean fuck I ended up going to an inpatient thing soon after she dropped me...

It sucks that Nintendo didn't include with the 3D all-stars. Maybe for the Switch 2?

And yeah, the situation is fucked up, I hope things can turn around.
Yea perhaps. It weirdly flew under the radar.

Thank u I appreciate it. I've found that if I'm busy I'm generally OK.

And that is EXACTLY why it's so vital. You can't just fuck with someone's treatment like that.

Disruption of care is dangerous, it's not a good idea to do it willy-nilly and without doing something to help the client make the transition. Recovery needs stability, and the therapeutic partnership needs mutual trust in order to thrive. Your clinician provided neither during the transition, and quite frankly has shown to be questionably deserving of that trust.

It's about as irresponsible as an insurance company just deciding to not cover your mental health meds one day and making you go cold turkey, but coming from someone who should fucking well know better.

I'm sorry this happened and I hope you can find a good counselor soon.

I do wish she gave me more of a heads up, like "in x amount of time we will stop seeing each other but we have time to adjust until then" but it was literally just walking in and being told at the startish of the session.

Thank you again it really helps to be able to hear for someone who's smart n stuff. I'm doing ok right now but I've been cutting a lot more since getting out so I just hope that stops soon. It's weird finding out just how much you NEED therapy.
