The season pass model fucking sucks, and should not be in any single player game.

Given ubi's, ea's, and blizzard's track records, no.

Lol I was planning on buy ac valhalla complete which is at a ridiculous price of $150, maybe they'll drop it $20 now, which I'm fine with paying.

Still looking forward to ac japan, hope it's what origins was to the series.

Ubisoft are returning to day one releases on Steam. They were the last hold out. Gabe wins by doing nothing.

June 10, 2018. The day Dante returned to us. Do what you want, just don't expect to get paid.
The backlash for all their games being a fucking scam of pre order bullshit might finally be biting them. Good.

Especially since PS5 owners lost literally all progress due to a patch, rendering their pre-release bonus for paying extra was fucking moot. I would be livid. Actually, this happened with Payday 3 as well. I didn't realize I got it a few days early from the version I bought, but it was borked on PS5 for those 3 days meaning that extra bit was useless.

So fucking stupid.

What exactly did the season pass model mean.

Why? They're discounted bundles for DLC that's going to be made anyway. Getting rid of it gets rid of the discount.

IIRC, Season Passes in single player games were just buying DLC in bulk without knowing exactly what you're getting into. I dunno if Ubisoft was doing something different with them, I haven't played their games since Rayman Legends and AC Unity.

You're giving developers money for the vague promise of content. Are you even going to be playing a single player game a year from the date you purchase it? Are the developers even going to be supporting the game? Will they even still be around? That's what most season pass content looks like. I'm not against discounted DLC bundles, but after you know what they are and whether they are worth it. Skins and other cosmetics, with 1 story based content? Is that worth preordering?

Getting rid of the "Pay to play a few days early" nonsense is definitely the sensible thing to do after the debacle of the people who paid to play Outlaws early having to restart their game from scratch when the Day One patch hit.

That said, I'm still surprised to see Ubi do the sensible thing because... y'know... Ubi.

Its normally not a discount though. Heres what they do. They sell the expansion for $30. Then sell the season pass for $30. Then, add a bunch of completely useless bloat that basically nobody cares for or that becomes obsolete after five minutes, like adding preorder bonuses or an extra weapon skin, then go, see, thats a $50 dollar value for the cost of the expansion! I thought this game had already come out by now since everyone had stopped talking about it.
Without truth, there is nothing.
I just don't buy the games when they release and wait for the GOTY edition or complete editions. Getting Valhalla for like $40 with all the shit added was a steal to me. I got like 300 hours of varied gameplay out of that and outside of a few grindy things, I enjoyed almost every minute of it. That's value.

No they're not. They're literally pre orders. For DLC. If you want a discount then wait until all the DLC is out first and then buy it in a discounted bundle.

I wonder if the game is being delayed because Ubisoft actually learned a lesson with rushing games or if they are just delaying because it would have been unplayable if they launched on the original date.

Then they sold their games for $150

The can go under imo
I wonder how off track it is that they needed to delay it by 3 months. And yeah considering that almost every major game that's had early access has been a shit show, it's probably for the best that they didn't do that.

That being said, if I ever do play this game, it's gonna be after it goes on sale a few months down the line

This. It's such a scam. Being able to basically pre-order the dlc before the developer even announces what's in it, isn't a bargain lol

Part of me thinks they don't actually need that long and it's just releasing it in February is better from a sales perspective than December or January are.

If you look at the upcoming PS5 releases in North America there's really no major major releases from mid-November until the beginning of February.

Wouldn't that have just happened regardless? That wasn't a Day One patch by the way.

It was just PS5 they screwed up on. And they didn't activate cloud saves for weeks. The whole thing was a general consequence of rushing release instead of delaying. The few days of early access is a manipulative sales tactic, but not the scapegoat you suggest here.
Also, I don't know how everyone feels about the new prince of persia but I thought the demo was good and I was sold on getting it one day. It might not be the old prince of persia or even the failed reboot prince of persia (which I would have been fine with as well) but if it means more good prince of persia games in the future then I'm all for it.

Because it only affected one of three platforms. Its a QA issue, not what youre framing it as.

Fair, but that's a problem of the DLC itself being ass. If the DLC was better and somebody was going to buy it all day one anyway it wouldn't be an issue. And if you think the DLC won't be worth it then don't preorder, it's not that good a deal that it's an impulse buy.

I did see that the season pass for Valhalla does not include one of the expansions, so that's pretty scummy.

Valhalla was the best selling game in the franchise.

I kinda hated it, but it is what it is. Theyre not fixing critical bugs and lack of polish during the week of early access, that stuff needs weeks if not months.

I think they chose the date they had before deliberately to contend for GOTY before the cutoff.

I doubt Ubisoft cares or even thinks these games are GOTY contenders anymore. The most likely reason as always is holiday sales, which is why I figured it must be fucked in its current state for them to give that up.
