I don't seem too much middle ground, either people love them and hold onto them never spending them, or they act like $2 bills are used toilet paper and don't want them anywhere near the rest of their cash. How do you feel about them?
Every day I wake up and promise I will be nice to everyone, then I deal with people at work and remember why that will never happen.
We had them in Canada until 1996 then replaced them with a coin, the Twoonie.

Indifferent. Its just weird to have currency that is technically rare but useable currency.

I prefer $1 dollar coins tbh

feels like I actually have money to
spend or something like that.

like I could go to a $0.99 cent store and buy something really cheap there with a few dollar coins
I bought the Taito Egret II Mini just to play puchi carat
Dungeon Travelers 2 on steam, pls. I need that game in my life, it's like a drug
Meh. We get them in the tip jar fairly often

Yeah I actually typed up something dealing with that but decided to er on the side of caution because it was technically a crime at the time and that's a TOS violation.

$2 is a coin here. We switch over at $5.

Though also lol cash

I see them so rarely in the wild that its definitely a Oh wow, a $2 bill! kinda thing for like 5 seconds.

Ill never forget when I was a teenager and worked at a grocery store, a customer flipped out at me when I gave him a $2 bill as part of his change, claiming I was giving him fake money. People behind him in line has to help calm him down and convince him that it was legit currency.

It's twice the worth of a $1 bill

I remember $2 bills but don't miss them at all. I much prefer the Toonie.

Especially because it makes my change stash grow so much quicker. I used my change stash to buy my PS5. I cashed it in at the bank first though.

Cash is useful in some limited scenarios if I'm trusting someone to go get something for me I'd rather hand them cash than my card. I barely trust my mom with my card.

And it was a thing at my last job where we'd all pick a place to get food from and one person would collect the orders and money and go get it. Many times has someone lost their card on that process. Id rather lose just a little cash than my card.

I'd just transfer the money to their card lol

We had a $2 note here in Australia, but we ditched in 1988 for a coin.

$2 is $2.

Useful for people that rely on cash over cards for the most part. But there isnt much you can buy for a dollar anymore anyways so thats less chains you need to deal with for purchases between multiples of $5.

Their inexplicable rarity is something my brain finds fascinating for some reason.

It's funnier to me now that I live in Canada and the $2 coin is a relatively common sight here.
Canadian, so haven't had a $2 bill in decades and I don't think of them at all. Also, lol @ cash. I used to use cash to buy cannabis before it was legalized, now I literally use it like two or three times a year.
If I had one I probably wouldn't use it, so I think they're pretty useless as money.
Many Bothans died to bring you this post.
Of all the type of bills that exist, they certainly are one of them.

I don't see them very often but I keep them un my wallet and spend them like any other bill when I get one. There are a lot of silly people who think they're special and will hold onto them. But they're still being printed so if you want some you can just ask the teller at your bank. You might even be able to get some fresh, uncirculated bills.

It's not a war crime the first time.

Yep, soooo much easier to find an ATM, get cash out, hand that over, deal with the change you get back; than to just grab out your phone and quickly transfer some money.

I get that America's backwards infrastructure means you don't really have a choice, but that's not actually "cash is good", that's just "your infrastructure is so bad that cash seems alright by comparison".

100% this. It takes like 30 seconds to do a bank transfer and that's if I include the time it takes to connect through the app. If you have the cash on you and the person is physically there with you, it's probably quicker to give them cash. Aside from that, it's way easier to just transfer funds.

Umm Walmart tends to have a cash back option even in self checkout. Some gas stations even do.

When I did always keep cash that's how I did it. I always buy stuff for work on my off days. (Gave me an excuse to get out of the house so I only bought exactly how much I needed for a stretch of days) And if my cash had been depleted I would get cash back.

Plus if you want your change back that's also less of a hassle with cash.

Speaking of I hate how cash app doesn't show exactly how much money you got. It doesn't show how many cents above the dollar amount you got. Random gripe.

That still involves having to go to a specific place to get some cash, only to then give that to another person. A bank transfer is just a few taps on a phone.

I go to the store anyways. I just used to always keep cash on me and that's how I did it.

We did a thing at work where someone would collect orders and go get food. So I was regularly having to trust people with my money. I've seen people get their cards lost on a regular basis.

One time I felt especially bad for a dude. He had his card lost 3 times. The last time it got found and we all came in shouting we found it we found it to be met with a god damnit they literally just deactivated my card for me.

But anyways you make it sound harder than it is to keep cash on you. You have to go grocery shopping unless you just order stuff to be delivered or for pick up. So pull cash out when you do that

That's fine if I know I need to give cash to someone, but that's really rare. I legit don't think I've used cash in several years now. I don't keep cash on me anymore, my money is more secure and easier to keep track of in my account. I disable contactless on my cards and just use my phone for most in person transactions.

They're worth $2. I had a big collection of them I was saving since I was a kid. Hit ebay one day and saw they're not selling for more than they're worth so used them for groceries.

Most men dont have anything to carry coins in other than their pockets, it is one thing to loose a few quarters but if there were only dollars coins, it would really suck to loose those. So in other words, dollar coins are misandrist.

I don't have any issue with them, but I also know that there are knobs that don't think they're real so they're inherently less practical.
Irregardless, for all intensive purposes, I could care less.

It really does bug me though under a certain dollar amount Walmart does not ask for my pin code.

Also irritates me I used my card out of state no problem but I order groceries to be delivered to my address and my card got shut down for suspicious activity.

Yeah that's crazy here. If you're paying by card, the machines always ask for your PIN, no exceptions. Hell, even with contactless on the cards, they'll block the odd one here and there and require a pin. You don't need it if you're paying through a device (etc Apple Pay) but that's because the device security is usually more secure than a PIN.

I usually let my bank know if I'm physically travelling somewhere out of the country so my card doesn't get blocked, but ordering online is usually no issue. I'll have to authenticate if I'm buying somewhere unusual for me, but that's just a text code or logging quickly onto the bank app.
