He clearly works off a dichotomy of friends and enemies and the former are allowed to do things that the latter can't without criticism.
The Joon documentary, and Joon himself, said a multitude of worse things (not in a slandering way, just in how things are), including direct insults about Phil, than Stuttering Craig ever did. However, in the case of Joon, it's under the guise of telling his life's story, which he likes. So Joon gets away with it, or Pigroach's defenses are lowered to the point of not noticing it.
I also rewatched the interview through a restream and I think it's kind of clear based on how Phil opens it that he looks massively up to Craig like a child to their idol and his intention was to get an apology to the one sin that was committed to him, so he, in his kingly benevolence, could label it water under the bridge and proceed to have an idol-fan relationship with him. When it was clear that couldnt happen, rather than making any effort to meet Craig anywhere, he torched the last remaining bridge post and threw a baby tantrum.
For a while I've bad my own mantra like DSP has his "once you put the clown make-up on it never washes off."
Mine is "DSP's fundamental quality is that he worships professionalism while having none." I think it's an extremely robust mantra and I think it was on full display in this interview. He spent a good chunk of it belittling and insulting Craig's character, but he never used profanity, so to him he was being a good and professional debater, or journalist or whatever you wanna call it. A true Barbra Walters. But Craig dares to tell him to fuck himself (something Phil has literally said to him while he wasn't there to defend himself) and that's an unacceptable level of unprofessionalism. That's crude and beneath Phil.
Thank you for listening to my SNORtalk.
